    Hey guys

First of all, thanks for a great forum, i have used this page some times in the past to get some good answers to some of my problems..

But now, i just can't find anything that helps me with this :(

I got a Acer Aspire 7745G, and yesterday i formatted my primary harddrive with windows on, and installed a clean new Win7 Ultimate..

Then the laptop started to heaten up more than normal, and after an hour it just shut down by itself..

Then i had it cool of, and tried again to turn it on, and after an half hour, the machine died again.

Then i've read that i COULD be because i needed a new BIOS..
So i downloaded the newest BIOS from Acers homepage, that fits this model, 7745G, and started to flash it..
I even had it outside for cooler enviroment meanwhile..
    BUT then hell broke loose..
The computer turned off again, while flashing the bios, and now it just turns on, and goes out again after some seconds..

    What can i do?

I've heard about some Acer Crisis disc, and booting on a USB pen, but i don't know what to do, to not do anymore damage to it.

Thank you for your time, i appreciate it

Is this a Phoenix or Insyde BIOS?

How to tell? Phoenix BIOSes have a file extension of WPH or ROM, while Insyde tends to use FD.

    I don't know which one.

I downloaded a file from Acers support download pages, thats called
    "BIOS_Acer_1.15_Windows.zip"

When decompressing it, i get to directories
    DOS
    Windows

In DOS there is a file called ZYB_115.exe
In Windows there is a file called ZYB_115_Win.exe

    In the readme it says:
Windows flash: Please click "ZYB_115_Win.exe" to update bios.

Thats everything i got, and know.

If i can do anything else to check the BIOS, please let me know

    Thank you for your time

Use 7-Zip to further decompress ZYB_115_Win.exe. There should be an FD, WPH or ROM file inside it.

Ive extracted with 7-zip, but i don't get any FD, WPH or ROM file inside.

All i got is 3 files called
    .data
    .rdata
    .text

And then a folder with 3 folders inside
    .rsrc>
    1024
    1033
    2052

And inside those folders there is just some files called
    5000
    5001
    5002

and some more, but all the same kind of files

When i extract it, 7-zip also says that every file is broken..

But when i launched the progam, befure it ed up, the program opened and worked fine.. Until it shut down..

    :(

When you started up the program, did it immediately start flashing, or was there some kind of dialog?

    Also, try extracting ZYB_115.exe too.

    It started right away..
There was a GUI, that showed 32 steps, and it took a backup before flashing the new one..

The pc died during step 16 or 17..

When i try to extract the other file, i get an error, so i can't do that.

    What would be the easiest?

Get some new hardware from Acer with and replace it, or?

No need to replace any hardware.

    Upload ZYB_115_Win.exe here.
