I don't see a reason why flashing BIOS would be helpful but it's unlikely to make things worse so if you feel like it, you might as well do it.
Beforehand try resetting BIOS to default settings and also - if you can - check with a multimeter- if there is any voltage on the pins that are supposed to power the fan.

Well I've read it here:

I have an Aspire 7750G issued to me for work, and I continuously run the CPU at 100%. Unfortunately, the cooling firmware seems broken — it will stop running the fan entirely, letting the core temperatures brush up against 100°C while throttling the CPU speed down to prevent going over that temperature. Every time this happens, which is upon boot, at least every day or two, I have to reflash the BIOS (!) to fix it. (Nothing else I've tried has had any effect on this — no Windows settings, no BIOS settings, not resetting BIOS settings to defaults, nothing.)
Am I just missing something or is this a major design flaw?

I have no way of checking the voltage. In a day or two I'll take it to a repair shop, now I'm just collecting as much data as I can on the problem. I'll suggest it to them. Hopefully there's a solution. I mean, I have a fully functioning laptop here, with probably the cheapest of parts inexplicably not working. It's driving me crazy. -
It's very odd to say the least.
If nothing else works (that's really the last thing to do though) would be to figure out what voltage gives you bearable loudness and at the same time reasonable rpm and hardwire the fan (possibly using something in between like a resistor) to a power source (USB port).
That would make the fan spin at constant rpm all the time the notebook is on.
Apart from that you can look for a solution via RWEverything where you can manually modify the table to make the fan go slower of faster - so maybe that would work - forcing it manually to go at certain speed. -
Well that kind of work is a bit out of my league. I've seen the USB solution on the net, might also consider suggesting it to those that will try to repair.
It seems this is not a standard problem as I hoped. If anyone else reading this has any knowledge of it, please feel free to comment, if not, thanks for your time Downloads -
There is a good modified Fan Control posted in this thread somewhere, allows you to change fan speeds.
Edit: After reading a bit, this laptop may be capable of a processor upgrade, but it would take a bit more digging.Last edited: Jan 27, 2017 -
I'm thinking about going to a 3840qm for this one, anyone interested in a 2670qm?
