I just unlocked my BIOS options and would like to know if there is any way to disable the integrated graphics and use the AMD 7670m exclusively. I tried simply disabling integrated, but it caused no image on the screen whatsoever and had to reset the BIOS.

Any hope without Acer stepping in and adding it as an option?

Likely you have something similar to Nvidia's Optimus, where the discrete card accesses outputs through the integrated one.

As I have written in this thread... you can not choose only one card on the "new" 7750G laptops.
And as you have seen in BIOS, you have no choice of only using the AMD card.

I really hope somebody find a way to solve this. HP released a BIOS update, so maybe Acer will do the same one day.

We can hope a BIOS update comes out. Can we confirm if the AMD implementation in our laptop is like HP, or like Nvidia Optimus where you are forced to use both since the Nvidia works off of the integrated in inseparable ways.

Another question, I tried to disable hyperthreading in the advanced CPU options, but this caused the computer to fail to boot and I had to reset the BIOS again. What happened there?

I haven't seen 7750 BIOS and the option you are looking for could still be there. Have a look here and see if you can find something like that in your BIOS.

That link looks like it is only for disabling the ATI card. I want to use the ATI card exclusively and disable integrated graphics completely.

Yeah, I know, because I wrote that guide =p. However, at the end of the guide I explain all the available graphics modes (note the red arrows):

    Hi ,

How did you unlock the bios? Is it also available for the Travelmate 7750g?

Mine doesn't have that particular menu.

Only thing of intererst that I don't know what it does, is Always Enable PEG, but haven't tried it yet.

    Here you go

    Hi NeoandGeo (and others),

I´m new to this forum and entered specifically to get help with a shot BIOS (computer won´t boot, trying Fn-Esc method to flash BIOS but no luck so far).

NeoandGeo, you say in your first post that you had to reset your BIOS after you got no image on the screen. If by no image on screen you also mean you couldn´t start you computer (i.e., as when corrupted BIOS), could you PLEASE you tell me exactly HOW you went about this as I am desperate for a solution.

I tried putting the .fd disk on CD, USB and MemProCard, to no avail. If you succeeded, what medium and file name did you use please???

    Thanks in advance, nyfiken

PS. I have this exact same laptop, of course. /nyfiken

Sorry, I mean .fd BIOS file, not .fd disk (a bit stressed out at this point...)

Luckily my problem was just no image, so a CMOS reset was all that was needed in my case.

    Thanks for replying, NeoandGeo!

OK, so you're saying your computer booted but you saw nothing? Did you pull the CMOS battery for up to 30 min and all was OK? If so, my problem is more severe as I tried this without success.

I've seen somewhere that trying to boot WITHOUT CMOS battery in computer will force boot block BIOS copy to be used, but I dared not try it yet. Anyone knows if this would be OK to try?

    Grateful for any input! /nyfiken

I took out my battery for about 30 seconds and it was able to reset.

Just so I'm clear, enabling PEG should only enable the ATI Radeon GPU and prevent the integrated intel chipset from being used, correct?

I don't think our laptop can function like that, but maybe I'm wrong hopefully.
