Hello. I have an Acer Aspire 8735. I bought a 540m that is the same mxm 3-a and fits perfect. The machine boots up and I have a fine screen and all but I cannot get nvidia drivers to install. It fails with "no compatible hardware found" and I cant get around installing the drivers. I would assume if the laptop accepted the card the drivers would be the least of my worries. Any tips on getting the drivers to detect the card?
I know I didn't see my model and the card I purchased on the compatibility list but I figured it would work since it fit and matched up perfectly.
thanks
EDIT: I found the answer to my question. I had to edit a couple of files and add the pcid of my card to a few places. I followed this How to Fix NVIDIA Driver Update Installer Error - YouTube but I did somethings different since my files were different. Mine actually had the first 4 set of numbers he talks about in the video so what I did was add my pcid to all of the lines that existed that matched my first 4 characters. Then I placed those lines in the other places of the file he talks about. On the second file I simply added one line with the pcid of my card. Saved changes and ran the installer then it found my card.
