Acer Aspire 8735G GPU Upgrade

Is there anyone who is using a GTX 460M in this notebook ? I have heard about that the GTX 560M is working,but it's really hard to get.

 

No one a idea ?

 

Should work, might have trouble getting it to full clocks. There is a 560m in the marketplace for about 200$.

 

Why shouldn't get the full clocks ?

 

Another question: If i buy a HD 5870 M and mount it. Would that work ?

 

I'm also interested in a graphic card with performance comparable to the HD6770M that would work in this notebook. With the HD6750M I'm currently using I can't get the internal display to work. If anyone has any idea how to make it work, please let me know.

 

Anyone tested a 5650M like this: 1GB Radeon kompatibel zu Acer Aspire 7738 G, 8735 G, 8940 Notebook Grafikkarte | eBay ? Will this one work?

 

I know this is an old thread, but aren't all these cards in question mxm 3.0-b ? I have an Acer Aspire 8735 and it's a mxm 3.0-a slot. I don't believe my laptop has the "G" specification on the model number so perhaps there is a difference between the two? If not, I don't see how either of these cards will work in that laptop. I just upgraded my gt 240m to a gt 540m. Required fiddling around with couple of driver files but other than that it works well.

 

Mine is mxm 3.0 a ,too. The cards will work, if you put out the subwoofer, but the cooling system is not good enough. Where did you got that 540m?

 

Ah, ok. I noticed it would fit if that speaker wasn't there. Is the cooling system not capable of shedding the heat quick enough or the fan just runs all the time? Either way, I'd prefer to keep my little cheesey sub woofer

I'm not sure with the cooling system. I had a 5870M in there, but it was the wrong vBIOS. My fan didn't speed up. Idle temp with cooling pad was about 65°C. After that I did a big fail. I flashed to a wrong vBIOS and my laptop did not POST with that card. Since that time the card is lieing in my drawer. Maybe a better card than the 540M can be cooled.. I don't know. I can't order in the USA. I'm from Germany and there is not 540M available here I think. I could get a 5650 M 1GB DDR3 and OC the card. It costs 50 €. There are not many 8735G owner's in this forum and so there are not many upgrade reports. I still wait to someone tested a Core 2 Quad.

 

Maybe someone can help me. If I buy a 6770m for example and play BF3 can I get better framerates? My X9100 @ 3,33 GHz is at 100% on a 64 player server and on 48,32 it's near 100%. Is it worth or should I buy a better laptop?
