I own the same model and I've never had this problem. Even with a X9100 CPU (45W TDP) and HD4670 (35WTDP) graphics card the temperature is still manageable. With the original configuration (T6600 CPU and GT240M GPU) the notebook never overheated.
    What's your configuration?

I have the same Notebook and i have replaced the CPU to T9600. I have no problems. Does the HD4670 work in the notebook ?

The HD4670 works pretty ok and it doesn't heat up that much. With my X9100 OCed to 3.5GHz the system hits the 105 degrees limit and shuts down while playing games if I don't lift it about 2 inches from the table. If I run the CPU at 2.2GHz (T6600 frequency) or even at 3.06GHz (stock frequency) the system reaches about 90 degrees but it is stable.
In idle, the graphic card stays at about 40-45 degrees.
The only problem I have encountered while using the HD4670 is that with my card (I don't know from what notebook it was taken. I suppose it's not a general issue with this card in the 8735G) the VGA output is routed to the graphic's card DVI output so it doesn't work.

Thank you. Do you know anyone who replaced the GPU to a GTS 250m ?
The acer support says to me that the GT 240m the only card for the notebook is and the max. CPU t9600. But thats wrong I can see on your example.

I used (for a short time) an AMD HD6750M. It produces less heat than the HD4670 as far as I tested it and it's faster. The problem was that I had no video output on the internal display. It worked fine on VGA though. I am trying to solve this problem but so far I haven't got any solution.
The guys here on the forum advised me to go for the HD6750M instead of the GTS 250M when, just like you, I was looking for a cheap GTS for upgrade. They say that the HD6770M is twice as fast as the GTS so it's worth it.

The HD6750 would be a good upgrade for this laptop. But if the 6750 doesn't work, would the GTS 250M work with this notebook ?

The HD6750/6770 does work on this notebook. It's just a matter of getting the outputs of the graphics card routed to the correct connector. This as far as I know is a matter of software (SBIOS and/or VBIOS). If I manage to get this thing working I'll let you know.
I don't know about the GTS 250m. Better ask NetRoller or Meaker. They told me that the GTS 250m generates even more heat than the HD4670. At least for this reason (less heat than the HD4670), even though the internal display isn't (currently) working, the HD6750M is a better choice IMO.

I think the GTX 260m would work in this notebook. Or a 5870 if you could figure out the cooling.

Both of which are MXM-B, I suppose... I won't stress the motherboard that much. And a 120W power adapter is a must.
How much would each of them cost?

The GTX 260m is Type B and there is not enough room for a MXM type B card.

dude...... I feel for your computer. nuf said. You need to use IC diamond thermal paste on that and get some kind of a cool mat!
I wouldn't want any cpu of mine above 70 and I can't get my cpu in my aspire 6920g or sager to go above 65 under full load! Don't expect your machine to last more than a year.

90% of the time my system stays under 50 degrees. Considering that I have a C0 step CPU with 45W TDP and full CPU load temps (with no OC) are under 70 I'd say it's pretty much OK. I'm currently working on a cooling system to get the temps lower. I'll post the results when it's done.
Now let's get back on-topic (all the replies so far are off topic, IMO).

Is there anyone other who replaced the GPU in the 8735G ?

There seems to be clearance on the motherboard for a type B card
    [IMG]
Unless you have a card reader? And even then.

But you would have to add a lot of copper and maybe heatpipes to the cooling system.

The card reader is on the other side of the motherboard. The stock cooling system won't handle the heat produced by a type B card unless some serious mods are performed.

I think there is not enough room, because the mini subwoofer is behind the current card and there are maybe one or two centimeters left.

I have a new information. The GTX 560M is working in this notebook. You only have to remove the internal subwoofer.

Does anyone know how to reset the bios on this laptop? I can't find a CMOS battery.

I put a GTS 250M in to replace what I think is a dying GT 240M and it looked great for 20 seconds, then the screen went black and I haven't gotten it to post since--just the cooling fan spinning for 7 seconds, then stopping.

The system used to shut off periodically in Windows and Linux (but not Safe Mode) and I'm pretty sure I narrowed the problem to GPU or motherboard.

It's under the keyboard, huh? I was looking around on the bottom of the laptop.

You could get a Quadro 2800m... similar to gtx 260m... probably less heat

75W for GTX 260M and for the 2800M. My GT 240M has 23W and with the OC some W more. Maybe it's too much for the cooling system.
