check this 4 vbios maybe one is better than ours
Video Bios Collection | techPowerUp
i have not tried it yet i m at my girlfriend's home but i think you can try them
-
ok I'll play with this 3 (2 acer, 1 nvidia) and will post back.
-
yes its the same result but the 4th without DDR description is for Acer Aspire 7738g as writen in bottom left corner of details page. I can still try it just to prepare backup plan - probably usb floppy in case doesnt read the flash drive. ok . speek in an hour.
PS none of them are working!!!!
Adapter Board ID error. Our's seems to be (C909) and the 4 of them (C930) so even couldnt get the chance to flash any. Also both bioses that we uploaded seems are the same (tried to flash them again just to see any diff, but found none - at least from the info I could see when flashing)
Also in GPU-Z says Subvendor: Acer(1025).
Maybe I should look for Acer driver and vbios. -

P.S: FINALLY GOT NVIDIA PACKAGE WORKING
THANKS AGAIN
Here is how I;ve done it: (this manual is for anyone strugling to instal NVidia Package - not just for this particular GPU)
1. go here http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers
2. go to Device manager > Display adapter > your video card > properties > Details > Hardware Ids. Now put the numbers into site of step 1, check appropriate Operating system and hit Filter. Think red dots are uncertified and green certified.
3. Download the package and the .Inf file (if no .Inf file might not work)
4. Extract exe package and replace inf file with the one in the extracted folder (mine: 305.53_win7x32\Display.Driver).
My first attempt failed, but after uninstall and delete the current driver, after using Driver Sweeper and checked all NVidia options, analysed, cleaned, restarted PC and then started the Setup.exe all went just fine.
I would like to thank all for your time spent and figuring out this issue!!! -
Hello guys,
I'm from Italy and I've got the 8920g.
I want to upgrade it, I've read the whole thread but now I'm confused.
Please reply this questions:
- Keeping in mind that I'm now a welder at all, which is the best video card I can install in this laptop just PnP ? Please consider the economical side of it, comparing costs/benefits...
- Same question as above, but for the processor
- I have a problem with the power jack. This is a very nice laptop, but the choice to put alimentation on the monitor's hinge is something acer needs to do no more in my opinion... I searched for a while over internet, but the replacement incredibly costs a lot ! From 20 to 50 euros!!!
The spare part number is 50.AP50N.007
Do you know a way to buy it for less ?
Thank you for your replies, bye -
GPU - GT 240M - relatively cheap for what it can give in return, I wont spend money on anything else.
CPU - X9000 - there's currently one in the marketplace for $100, so it's quite a bargain. -
Hi triturbo, I'm glad to see a reply from you !
Ok for the GPU, but the CPU needs to be modded, right ? I mean, is it PnP or do I need at least a cooling modification ? -
PnP, and the GT 240m runs pretty cool, so it wont melt your system... much
-
thanks mate !
-
Hi, surfing the web I saw that the x9000 is almost (for me) impossible to find, unless paying it 200 euros !
So I saw that the P9700 succeded the x9000, and it has got lower TDP temperature (28W instead of 35) and it is cheaper. Problem is that socket is the same, but this one works on 1066 Mhz.
I see triturbo runs a x9100, which if I'm not wrong is 1066 too, so would I be able to to the same ? What is involved in doing this ?
What about a T9500 ? I found one almost cheap...
Thank you
EDIT: Another question:
Which is better ? gt 240m or fx3600m ? Please consider that laptop would be used for intense graphics, CAD, 3DS max and Vray.
I saw that fx3600m are much cheaper than gt240m, so if it gives me more performances, according to what I need to do with it, I'm going to get it ! Is it always suitable, or do I need to search for a brand specific one ? Does it need modifications ? -
First things first - here is the X9000 I was referring to. Now, there is a catch with the P9700 and any other 1066MHz CPU. They need socket mod, that's one, and two - they won't do to you much in the performance department. The first one - because it wont run otherwise, second - because when it runs it does so with reduced FSB and from there with reduced clocks. So this P9700 would run at ~2,1GHz, unless you are able to do FSB overclocking and compensate for the loss. Here's why I have X9100 E0. It runs COOL, it has unlocked multiplier, and with ThrottleStop it's easy to compensate. Here's X9100 QHBQ E0 in the marketplace as well. Which one you'll pick is up to you, and if the sellers are willing to ship to you. T9500 is a nice upgrade as well, so as I said, it's up to you.
As for the graphics, I don't think that you'll be able to run the FX. You probably don't have enough room in there (it is bigger GPU). Even if you do, your cooling wont be up for the task of cooling it. -
Mate, please enlight my confusion ....
It the X9100 PnP ?
If I'm not wrong the T9500 is PnP for my laptop, and not the X9100.... At this point I'm no more sure !
Anyway, X9100 is very very expensive, I really don't know if it is worth. What to you think ? T9500 is reasonably priced, is there so much difference between them ?
As for the graphics, what do you suggest me ? Excluding the FX, you believe it's better a GT 240m or a radeon 4650?
I'm having so much doubt ! -
X9100 is NOT PnP. T9500 is, and will work just fine for most of the tasks. The difference is that with T9500 you can get 2,8GHz (2,6GHz default) if you have dual-IDA BIOS. With X9100 only your cooling is limiting you, I can get 3,6GHz.
As for the GPUs, GT 240m would run cooler, the performance is on par with HD4650. Also it is PnP, unlike HD4650, where you need to either solder EEPROM, or mod your BIOS to include the vBIOS. So the GT 240m is the obvious winner here. -
Awesome then !
I'll definitely go for T9500 and gt240m!
Please reply to these questions:
0) I've found some variants of T9500. SLAYX and SLAQH. Are they the same or do I need to get a specific one ?
1) What is dual - IDA bios ? Where-What-How ?
2) Do you think I can overclock T9500 to 2.8 ghz just with bios change or do I need to do some cooling modifications ?
3) I saw in your signature that you carry 8 gb ram, is it a matter of fortune or have you done something to make the laptop see them ?
4) Have you ever thought / are you thinking / have you ever seen some mods to enlight the keyboard like Alienware or macBook ?
5) At the moment I don't figure out your laptop's power dc in, but my 8920g has got power connector in screen's left hinge. While this is a beautiful solution, the internal power cord suffers a lot and mine got broken. I'm searching for a cheap one, since all I've found costs a lot (by the way, do you have one ??? part number is 50.AP50N.007). Do you know about modifications to solve this problem ?
Please excuse me for this load of questions, I see you're very knowledgeable about this - and much better - you're European. This makes all your advices and solutions much more possible to me. Americans has got big ideas, but we here (at least me) don't have all of their potential in finding pieces... hope you understand.
Thank you mate, hope to read about you soon ! -
SLAYX was my choice, and usually goes with a premium among others.
If there is one for your notebook, then you are a flash away from being able to get Dual-IDA. I don't think that there's one though. You'll have to ask someone to make it. There used to be pretty lively topic here, but it's long gone.
The cooling should be fine, use MX-4 when you get your new CPU.
It's hit or miss with PM965 - some see and run the full 8GB, some 6GB, and some wont boot with more than 4GB. So I can't give you definite answer.
It's pretty much not doable for various of reasons.
I can't help you with this.
Yeah, I know that feeling. -
Ok then, I found 2 from china over Ebay, they are one SLAYX and one SLAQH. I'll go for the SLAYX
Your second line refers to bios ? I'll google for dual-IDA, since I don't know what it is. What would it give me ?
What is MX-4 ? Thermal paste ?
OK with ram, I think I've read about it on this forum... I'll try it and see
Right now I'm writing from this laptop, and I must say, it is pretty hot just with T8300.... I hope not to burn it down !
Do you know if there are other keyboards (acer or other) that would suite this laptop ? I find it very awful, I've got an HP Laptop even more old than this, and it has got a beautiful keyboard, keys are a pleasure to press...
bye -
Hopefully from respected seller, better post a link just to be sure.
+200MHz.
Yes.
If you have the money, since 4GB modules are not exactly cheap
When was the last time, when you've cleaned it?
I've changed mine to a black one, and that's pretty much it. -
Hi, I'm here again !
I've been busy this times, but here I am with some new ideas.
I taken apart my laptop. The whole of it.
I needed to change the cmos battery and the power cable.
Since I was there - in fact, laptop is still apart - I took some pics. I still got the problem of changing CPU and GPU, so I took a look around to see spaces, cooling and so on.
I used to think my laptop was (very) clean but with big surprise, I found a wall of dirt glued to the inner part of the two heatsinks. That's why the fan ran at most all the time! I think I'll keep it for memory ...
(wow, google translator has made great strides!)
I was wondering: how about replacing the whole motherboard with a 8930 one? As far as I can see they are the same in size and I suppose in chip placement too.
Why ? Because this way In can fit a 1066 fbs CPU and DDR 3 ram in it, which would be a great jump for this old piece of plastic...
Also, I can use 8930's cooling system to cool his hot spirits.
Awaiting for your reply, especially from triturbo.
bye

Surfing the internet, I found some pics of 8930:
CPU Heatsink:
GPU Heatsink:
As fai as I can see, they look exactly the same. Good for me, money saved !
Regard the motherboard, I see it looks like the same, screws and pcb placement are the same.
Unfortunately, looking closely, I realized that something was different:
- On top (back), there seems to be only one speaker connector, despite the two I've got on mine (how can it be ??? I didn't noticed any other connector onboard)
- On side, plugs are different.
8930g front
8930g back
Side
There're two plugs I don't have in my 8920, what are they ?
By the way, I think i can fit those connectors on my case too, 'cause I've got space and a free slot.
Regarding GPU, I've fond this page:
Others Brand Laptop WiFi Cards
There are some cards, but I'm not sure I can fit them. Space as you can see is not a problem, but cooling ?
Awaiting for your reply, bye -
beside the chipset below the CPU slot is a white connector for speakers. I use an 8930G and you mean the other RCA ports connectors? the extra 1 is a Line-IN and the weird lookingnport on right beside USB is a USB 2 port + an Esata port
-
I don't understand you.
I'm talking about the onboard speakers, not the headphone jack.
I can't see any connector in the position you stated.
Regarding ports, do you mean the one I don't have on mine is a double USB/Esata port ?
I don't understand why they did, I've got a spare slot in wich they could have inserted the double port, but they changed the whole layout (VGA and LAN are inverted too).
Bah.
Wait, there must be something worng.
I suppose there are different version of this board.
Looking at the image I posted, the one with the connectors, LAN and VGA are inverted.
Looking at the other picture I posted, an 8930 mobo taken from internet as well, they are not inverted (?????)
I'm a bit confused right now. -
There are two versions of the motherboard as you noticed. Either way you have to be prepared for some grinding. Also take note that the mounting holes could be placed differently. Most MoBos are proprietary, so don't expect perfect fit.
-
That's all? Really?
I was expecting more from you mate, like your advise in doing this.
Come on let me know!
I know they are proprietary, but that's the same manufacturer!
Btw, perhaps, are you selling your gpu? That would be much easier that way...
Inviato dal mio GT-I9100 con Tapatalk 2 -
Well yeah that's it. Here's the break-down - it's the same brand - Acer, but it could well be different manufacturer - Quanta, Compal, Flextronics, Wistron and etc. You know most notebooks from different brands (DELL, HP and so on) are made by a handful of manufacturers (some of the above). So yeah they could be just a number away, but Acer might have contacted someone else to make 8930G. Also even if it's the same manufacturer take this as "the better" (probably) revision of the motherboard, so they have changed few things for "good" (again, probably).
So my opinion is like this (as well as what I've already said) - it's not impossible, but it will be pretty hard and not without some tradeoffs. Sorry, but I can't give you anything more than this since I've never looked that way. You are on your own.
I might have something for you, but I'll have to test it, probably the upcoming weekend. -
I am inpatient to hear from you.
Thanks, bye

Look at picture of Motherboard
Look Below Where CPU Goes
Beside the Other Chip on Right is a White rectangle
Speakers go there
Also refrain from the attitude on forums you could really word it politer your the first person to be trying this so how can you expect advice on how its done we can only give you rough estimates on if it can work or not though I will give you its very likely it will work its just lining it up with casing and wires -
In my opinion this is not for speakers. I've got it too on my board, and it is bigger than the ones used for speakers. It is cooling fan power.
Also, you must excuse me, i'm not english-native so I can't understand you quite well. In fact I can't say if you're accusing me or what.
I surely know this is a pioneer task, I'm not asking for certified advice, but there're peaple here who:
- open notebooks every day;
- Change GPU and or CPU;
- mods cooling systems, even with hand-crafted systems;
- replace bios and other various chips;
and so on, so I was thinking that maybe someone could share with me what they learned. Also, there may be someone who opened both 8920g and 8930g, and could be able to tell me, since they've already done, if it is possible or not.
After all, is this that forums are here for, isn't it?
Anyway thank you for your reply -
-
You're right mate, I've got it wrong.
Anyway there still is a problem. I checked the manual and saw those connectors on top of Mobo are for led boards, the ones on the hinges. There is still one on 8930 board, and I've got two of them.
Perhaps, have you seen in your 8930 if those boards are powered with an Y cable ? -
Question: i was searching for a GT 240M to fit my computer, since it is PnP and the price is sustainable. Today I've come across an Asus GT 220M. I may have that card for a very low price.
Is there so much performance difference between 200 and 240 ?
Do you know about a comparison chart I can view ?
Thank you
Edit: I find by myself, thanks to this beautiful site (in italian !!!!) that shows the whole graphics card available, with performance description and a nice side list sorted by performance.
GT 220M is definetely far away from GT 240M

Hi guys, could you be so kind and generous to tell me what i can possibly do with my Sapire 8920g (apart from throwing it out of window
. I've got core t8300, geforce 9500, 3 gb ddr3. My viceocard got burnt 3 days ago and was fixed for 60 bucks, i tried to tell the master to switch videocard to 9650 (which is quite standart) but he said it would be safer to get the old one (9500) as he wasn't sure it would work with processor. But recently i stubled upon this site and was quite amazed by all the overclocking and modding you do. So can you tell what parts (like cpu, video) i can buy and just give it to the master to change as i personally have no experience in repairing and the hardwarestuff, just mundane helpdesk is my ability )
