    Hi All,

I'm a newbie here and don't know if this has been discussed before.

I have an Aspire 8930G, the original battery now only lasts about 20 minutes from fully charged so I ordered a new replacement battery off the internet and it would not charge, sent it back and recieved a replacement, and that would not charge either. The original battery still charges in this laptop, I have tried all bios versions and different O/Systems with the replacement batteries but the same outcome, says plugged in charging but they do not charge. If anyone has overcome this problem please let me know.

    Thank you

I know replacements can be problematic sometimes. Hard to say for sure.

Have you tried removing all power and removing the battery and then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds or so. Refit battery and reconnect charger and see if new battery is recognised correctly.

    Hi Mooly

Thanks for your reply, yes tried what you have said but it made no difference

This seems to be a common problem with this model.

As far as I can tell the original battery was made by Sony for Acer and the laptop maybe checks the info on the battery circuit for something in particular
before it will charge it, but I did read someone with the same problem even bought an original Acer replacement and it did not charge either.

I've seen similar on various forums of the years... not just Acer either. Seems to be a lot of variables, batteries, BIOS version etc. I would doubt you have a hardware problem though tbh as the original still works OK but is just down on capacity.

Don't know what else to suggest really. You would need an identical new battery to the original to be sure or a seller that is aware of any problems and can guarantee a replacement would work.

Had the same problem recently on a Lenovo. Ran the battery all the way down til the laptop shut off. Leaving it off, I plugged it in and let it charge overnight. Problem solved.
