Seeing as I pretty much made up my mind and want to buy a Acer Aspire 8930G, I hope somebody here can give me some specific advice. Maybe someone who owns one of the laptops (I hope there aren't any differences, depending on the country you live in)

I am looking at the Acer Aspire 8930G-644G32MN or the ACER Aspire 8930G-584G32BN. The first one is 300 Euro's cheaper than the last one. Besides that big difference I can't seem to find any. Did I miss some specific diffence, like do they both have Surround Sound and a BluRay drive and a full HD screen? Does any of the two support DVB-T? Do they both have a 9600 GT graphics card?

The reason why I ask is because I looked through, I don't know how many internetsites with specs and it's amazing how they all differ, obviously mainly copied and pasted from other internetsites. And I really want to get the right one and not regret my purchase after a while.

Thanks for all the advice in advance,

Where are you planning to buy from? If the store is a computer store, maybe just call and ask them.

Thanks for the respond, I will eventually order it online or buy it from the computerstore, depending on the model I am going to get. The stores around here only have the Acer Aspire 8930G-644G32MN. I visited one store today but the guy wasn't sure. They only information he could give me was the same as on the card in front of the laptop in the display.

Hi, I've not heard of the first one, it maybe that is might be peculiar to your country. However the specs for the second in the UK are these:

    Isn't the 8930G-644G32MN lacking a Blu-ray drive?

I thought that the second part of the product code tells you most of what you need to know:

    644G32MN

    64 - T6400 processor
    4G - 4GB memory
    32 - 320GB HDD
    M - Multi DVD-RW drive
    N - Wireless N

    584G32BN

    58 - T5800 processor
    4G - 4GB memory
    32 - 320GB HDD
    B - Blu-ray drive
    N - Wireless N

So the difference appears to be the processor (T5800 vs. T6400) and the optical drive (DVD vs. Blu-ray).

chriscatt: At this moment I do tend the favor the ACER Aspire 8930G-584G32BN because of the Blu Ray but wether the screen is full HD or not is still a question too and I don't see the point in paying and having a Blu Ray drive if the screen is not Full HD. I must admit the more I look into this the more confusing it gets, two speakers/six speakers/5 speakers and the resolution of the screen is still a blur too. Maybe I should just call ACer and ask...Thanks for the respond !!!

BunsenHoneydew: Thanks for your responds too, that is right the 8930G-644G32MN is lacking a Blu Ray drive but has DD3 RAM and a Better graphics card instead. But that is very clever, I never would have noticed that. The main specs are pretty much the same I was more interested in the detailed specs, mentioned above.

Hi, the screen needs to be a WUXGA to be full HD...
