I own an Acer Aspire 9804 wkmi and it is now to the point that I require to install additional ram.
According to everything I have read this computer can handle 4g of ram (although it's 32 bit so I know I wont get use of all 4g)
I have purchased two 2g of the correct ram but when I install it and turn on my p.c. I see the start up screens etc but then when windows loads the screen goes blank. I can hear windows loading and there are no beeps or cursor flashes just a blank screen.
I have tried installing just one 2g ram in one slot and left the other empty and everything starts fine, then switched it and left the other blank and it worked too. I have also tried Kingston and mushkin ram as well as another that I cannot recall the name of.
I have the latest bios updated and I believe all my drivers are all up to date (although I have a bit of trouble navigating the acer website for the correct driver updates)
I have also taken my p.c. into 3 computer repair places (at a cost of over $100 now) but they cannot get it to work either.
It seems that anything over 2g of ram will just give me a blank screen. Any ideas?
(Please keep in mind that I am not that computer savy either)
Thanks![]()

Seems to be using the 945PM chipset. There's a discussion here with another Acer...

Pretty sure the chipset supports 4 GB, but no reason why Acer laptops are limiting on 2 GB. Could be something that needs a BIOS update
