I am having some problems playing some good quality music on this laptop. I dont know if its because of the settings I have it at, or if its the speakers. I have tried connecting it to my home stereo system..and it still sounds like there is an echoing noice mixed in with the music.
Please let me know how I can fix this problem. Should I bring it in to be fixed? Do I need to install some new and improved music software? Do I have to adjust the sound settings on the laptop?
I would really appreciate some advice as I am unsure what to do.
Thanks.

How are you connecting it to your home stereo? The headphone jack? I've found that mine is screwed up and I have to sorta half push the headphone plug in, or I lose one channel.

The loudness of the sound coming from the speakers is not the problem, its the quality that I am hearing. It sounds like the audio is a bit distorted with this echoing sound. I dont know if this laptop just has bad speakers or what - but I would really like to know how to fix it.
I tried fooling around with the settings (Wave, SW Synth, Line Volume, etc.) but none of it seems to help. Also, when I try to change the bass and treble in the advanced settings...it wont let me move the dials.
If any of you have this model and either do or dont have problems with your audio sound, please give me some advice on how to fix this machine.
Thanks for your help. -

I have the 5672 the inbuilt speakers dont really have any bass definition to speak of , its all a bit tinny, watch out that none of the effects have been selected, i.e. bathroom / arena etc as that could be the source of the echoing.
I have only tried headphones on my laptop, and they sound fantastic, the bass response is amazing, easily as good as my soundblaster live from my old desktop.
again just check for environment settings in realtek it should be set to none
there is a generic, but that could have echo on it.
Good luck sorting it out, if this doesnt work, I would get a warranty return done on the machine -
Thanks for the advice, but I dont even know where to find the environment settings in realtek are. When I click on the audio button for my laptop, there is a list of 6 different settings that I can fool around with:
Master Volume
Wave
SW Synth
CD player
Line volume
Mic volume
I have the option of changing the volume balance on all of these settings. However, I still seem to get this distorted sound being played by the laptop speakers. (and my home stereo system)
If someone could please let me know what the best settings are and perhaps what might be wrong with my laptop's audio system...that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

@toittoiger - go control panel, there should be an icon for Realtek HD Sound Effect manager. Might also be an icon in the right hand taskbar area.
If you don't have it then you may have to reinstall.
This Control Applet gives you total control over enviromental sound shaping and equalization. Almost sure that your problem is related to a setting in that. Once you have the applet open you will see why - there are a multitude of settings, some of which I can see no point to whatsoever (who wants their speakers to sound like the inside of a sewer pipe?).

THANK YOU SO MUCH
That was definitely the problem...it was set on Bathroom. -

Actually I love those settings, when listening to music its sometimes fun to have it sound like you are somewhere else,
I must admit my favourite was on my old soundblaster live Jazz Club sounded fantastic in a living room
Glad to hear you sorted it.
