    Hi Everyone,

I am new here so be kind with me.

I am going to buy the Acer Aspire Gemstone Blue 8920G (LX.AP70U.068)

I want Vista Ultimate 64bit on it not Vista Ultimate 32Bit.

I have heard that i can use the Vista Ultimate 32bit product key for a Vista Ultimate 64Bit.

    Is this correct?

Also my other problem is, is that if i can use a 32bit product key to activate a 64bit Vista how do i get Vista Ultimate 64bit?

I mean do Microsoft sell Vista Ultimate 64bit without product key? so i can then use the 32bit product key that comes with laptop to activate the 64bit?

If not how do i get the 64bit version?

Reason why i want the 64bit version of Vista Ultimate is to take advantage of the 4GB RAM.

I advice you to read this article ;) => Link

Benefits of x64 OS are not as "simple" as the ability to handle more memory

    Regards :)

Hi Thanks for your replu but i still want x64 bit,

All the drivers for Acer 8920G support 64bit plus i don't want to loose 1GB of RAM, pointles in it not being used by Vista 32Bit version.

    Anyone?

to use that extra 1 gig of ram... the only way is to use a 64 bit OS... be that VISTA.... or some linux flavor....

try it out... see of it meets your needs... if so good....
but what good is a gig of RAM if you can't run the programs you need?

    Hi,

I will be able to run the programs etc that i need, i have checked all of this out.

All i want to know is how do i get Vista Ultimate 64bit for free without having to buy it as others has said i can use my 32bit product key for the 64bit OS.

I dont mind paying a small fee for it of course but i only want the Vista 64bit OS and not the product key.

I have done a search but i can only seem to find that if i want ultimate 64bit i will have to buy it with product key which as i got product key i don't need to pay full price for something i already got apart from the 64bit version disc of vista ultimate of course.
