    Model: Acer Aspire 8943G
    Proc: I7 Q740
    GPU: Radeon HD 5800

My laptop is currently with just the browser open at 80C, but shortly after I start most games it jumps up to the 96, and occasionally my computer will freeze and I'll have to do a hard shutdown. I bought the computer in December 2010 so its over 2 years old now, but it runs everything I throw at it really good with the exception of the heat. A month ago it was freezing up constantly, so I replaced the coolant paste on the processor and gpu. Its starting to freeze up again over the last week. Did I not put enough or too much paste on it maybe? Is there a fan or something I can buy? I've got a laptop stand and its not like its in a hot environment.

Honestly I've always noticed this laptop ran atlittle hot as it usually singed my fingers as I used the keyboard in certain areas. I'm hoping to find a permanent solution to greatly reduce the heat. Please any help is greatly appreciated.

Assuming the fan is spinning there are two possible issues. One- you haven't mounted the radiator properly and it doesn't touch the CPU.
Two- you bent the heat-pipe too much while assembling/disassembling and as a result it leaked (heat-pipes contain liquid that vapors and condensates)

You can try to assemble it once more and if that doesn't help you can try replacing the heat-pipe.

The fan is indeed running, and I was very careful to be delicate to follow directions when reinserting. But if this is the most likely case I'm willing to buy a new one. I'm not sure how to look for a new heat pipe. Could I get a link? Thank you.

Also is there maybe a better fan that will fit and do a better job aswell?

I can get my cpu at idle down to 65c... but in game it heats up to 96 within an hour

65*C idle is still too high. It should be at least 10*C lower than that.

ON the other hand- read this- it seems to be known issue with this notebook.

Also- on second thought- if it was a damaged heat-pipe it would heat up faster than it does so it's unlikely to be the issue.
