This thing has been reviewed by a few websites including Notebook Review but Acer do not seem to be acknowledging it on their website at all but you can buy it from Amazon.co.uk.

Completely confused, I am looking to buy one of these but the whole situation seems odd, almost like Acer have released some stock only to re-design the system and send it out again at a later date.

It would not be unlike Acer to do that. They typically update their units with the newest CPU's or GPU's without any fanfare and just before the refresh, the older models run out of stock. I would guess that they made a certain number of M3s available and is now in the process of making inventory of dual core IB CPUs for release in late May or early June.
