Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
The Asus EEE 1000HV, ATI 3450, came out last year...
-
And yes if you want to be stuck with sub performance standards such as Atom/Ion..so be it. CULV is really the only way.
-
The only thing dedicated graphics does for a 10.1" netbook is let it play HD material, since it's still to weak for almost any gaming anyway. But dedicated graphics can't make a slow Atom processor any faster at everything else and they can't make a 1024x600 screen any more usable. CULV is still the way to go.
Edit: (Like that screenshot really comes even remotely close to accurately representing a 1024x600 screen? That's simulated 1920x1080, at minimum)
-
Also, don't forget the Asus N10J which came out in fall 2008 and predated ION by combining an Atom N270 with a GeForce 9300M GS. It was a bit bulky and not marketed as a proper EEE PC. The EEE 1000HV was also available only in Italy if I recall correctly and in very limited quantities.
Acer basically is going to be the first manufacturer with mass-production netbook w/ dedicated graphics.
I'm up with the rest of you guys waiting on some kind of a CULV + dedicated graphics solution in an 11.6' or 12" formfactor. -
For what it's worth, I really have no desire for dedicated graphics in a CULV system. If they make it, great, it's the future, but I don't do the least bit of gaming when I'm portable so it's useless to me. If I need power or want to game that's what my desktop is for.

culv's are too expensive where i am, ion netbooks are half the price. i dont use anything but a netbook now and i have 3 notebooks.
the day they fit a culv into a 10" form factor and put a dedicated gpu on it, and it cost sub $500 is the day i will buy a culv. for now my 1000he does all i need it too.
i would like to know the video card for the ion2, is it the gt218 as some suggested, and if so whats the expected benchmarking, higher than a 9400 im presuming..... -

From what I can see, the -g model has the same resolution. -
well that wont be so good. but to be honest hat resolution doesnt worry me much. i find my 1000he perfect for everything a netbook does. i just wish i could play a few newer strategy games on it.

Anyone got any news on the release of the 532G? Price? Any updates? Really interested this netbook!
