the AO721-3070 here on walmart for $380: Walmart.com: Acer Black 11.6" Aspire One 721-3070 Netbook PC with AMD Athlon II Neo K125 Processor, Windows 7 Home Premium: Computers

    2gb of ram, 160gb hdd

    AO721-3574 here on amazon for $430 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003N3GG0Y
    1gb of ram, 250gb hdd

trying to figure out the price difference, it doesn't seem like there's any reason to pay for the 3574 but I just want to know if i'm missing something. the battery appears to be he same 4400mah on both models. any advice? Any 721 owners want to report their satisfaction? Looking for a netbook for my mom, mostly to surf the web, write a few papers on.

There's a typo on Amazon's website- they mention RAM three times- twice 2GB RAM and once 1GB RAM.
Acer Aspire AO721-3574 in fact has 2GB RAM so the only difference between the two seems to be bigger drive which costs you additional $50.

ah, that makes sense. I couldn't figure out what could be going on.

for anyone who has one of these, does windows 64 make any difference? I'm thinking of wiping and installing the 32 bit version just to make software installs easier.

I'd leave 64bit- it handles 32bit software with no problems and automatically installs it in a different folder (program files x86).
You don't have do anything more on a 64bit system than you used to on a 32bit one and the performance will be at least equal (if not better) than performance of 32bit Windows.
