    Acer Aspire One 8.9in Laptop 1.6GHz 1GB 120GB question

    I bought a used Acer Aspire One 8.9in Laptop 1.6GHz 1GB 120GB a couple of weeks ago, it works great the only thing that I've noticed is that it only charges the battery while powered on (that is running windows).
    If I connect the AC but the laptop is off, it will not charge the battery like any other laptop.

    Does anyone know if this is normal for this particular model or is this laptop malfunctioning? thanks guys.

    I bought this without O/S, I had to install xp myself. could it be that I'm missing something? help pls

    This would not be a software issue. Mine charges fine when not powered on. Infact, that's the only time I do charge it.

    Its really slow to charge, but if the amber light is glowing, it should be charging.

    Are you certain that the battery is OK? Does the laptop work on battery power? Does the amber light come on when the AC supply is connected? Is the AC supply the model that comes with the ONE?

    FYI, I have a ONE very similar to yours and it charges anytime it is connected. I added a 6-cell battery so the charge time is longer... but it works like any other laptop.
