    Hi to all!
I've just bought an Acer Aspire One AO725 netbook:
    AO725-0899 | Product Model
and I have a problem with the wireless connection:
in short, the router is in a room and the netbook is in another room, about 10 metres away, but, even if I can see the router from the computer with a strong signal, it won't connect, it says "can't connect", or it connects occasionally, but the connection drops after a while.
Putting the netbook near the router, it connects fast and firmly.

Now, since I have several other notebook and phones which have always connected perfectly and firmly to the router, after many attempts (attempts with other routers, updating wireless driver, settings, I even tried installing Windows XP) and no success, I came to the conclusion that the problem is just with the wireless adapter, I don't know if because of the BIOS, which I updated to the latest version on the Acer site, 1.05.

So, anyone who has this model can tell me if he/she has the same problem?

As, I said, after many attempts I have almost no doubts it depends on the wireless adapter and I'm considering to ship it to customer service. :(

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Ok... if someone is interested, I solved the problem!
I dismantled the rear panel and "connected better" the connectors to the wireless adapter, which evidently had not been connected well.
Now, incredible but true, it seems (SGRAT SGRAT...) to connect perfectly!

Ok... I later discover what the real problem was: the white and black cables were inverted!!! tsk
By the way, I more later discovered that near the white cable it is actually written "main" and near the black one "aux".

Both antennas are the same type so it shouldn't make any difference which way do you connect them.
If you had only one antenna it should be connected to MAIN but since you have two there is no difference (at least in theory and in practice as far as it has been tested so far)

When I searched, I found very little documentation about the difference between the white cable and the black one, and indeed it should be as you wrote: no difference; but I can assure you that, after inverting the two cables, the wireless connection started to work perfectly!
    It was driving me crazy.
If someone has this model, he can try and verify by himself.

    Dear Mr Wolf,
I had exactly the same problem and your solution perfectly worked. I was hopeless and almost would sent the netbook to the customer service but your post saved my life. It is a very good behavior to write out the solution. Many thanks.

...and I still can figure out why the hell would that make any difference. It shouldn't- it really shouldn't.
Still I keep that in mind as one of the things to check.

Glad to help! This thing was driving me crazy as well.

I agree with you: as far as I read, there should not be any difference. If you have the same notebook, you can try by yourself.

Believe it or not! It make difference!

I was hopelessly searching for a solution and saw Mr Wolf's post (God bless Google!) then replaced the cables and solved the problem.

I became a member of this forum to thank Mr Wolf and to say the solution works.
