I have been looking at getting it, but its $349 at office depot, and i don't want to order it, are there any other big stores that might have it cheaper? I will probably buy this one though, since it is still extremely cheap.

what are the downsides and upsides?

Upsides - Compact, light and aesthetically pleasing
Downsides - Small screen, only single channel memory and case smudges easily.

Probably 3 cell battery so while light, battery life is around 2hrs, give or take a bit, depending on usage.

Touchpad buttons are left/right of touchpad area, not under like most other setups.

More work to get to RAM/HDD if you intend to upgrade.

Atheros 5007EG card used in maximum power savings mode will drop connections (not limited to Acer A1, also happens on my Asus 1000HA).

Keyboard layout is great, probably the best layout of all netbooks (same as Samsung NC10).

ok, can i upgrade to a better battery?

the reason i want it is cause it is small and i want to keep it in a backpack or maybe underneath a jacket. Basically i need to hide it and do work on it for personal reasons. nothing weird, lol

Tiger Direct have a 6 cell battery model with a 160G HD - just got one for my wife and battery life is amazing - well over 5 hours.

Yep, you can get other batteries for it as well (6/9 cell).

If you want small, then you should look towards the Asus 900 series (not 904) as they are smaller than the AAO.

The Vaio P would be the smallest one with a "real" keyboard, but that's over the price range of these netbooks.
