I did a search, but went a few pages deep within my search and it's pulling search options up for every acer laptop and wasn't a big help. I am a newb here as I only want to get my laptop fixed.

    Here's what happened:

I was multitasking playing with my laptop between downs of NCAA 09 on my PS3 when a series of plays happened and i got frustrated. I forgot the laptop was beside me and slammed (but not too forcefully) my hand down on what I thought to be my bed. Well it came down on my laptop. I opened the lid knowing I had busted the screen, but it was intact and my screen was still going. However, the computer was locked up so I held the power button to do a restart. It cut off and never cut back on. The fans will run and you can hear it power up, but no image, just a blank screen.

My initial thought was that it was the screen. Well, the screen will flash when I pull the power cord out on a dead battery from the power surge and the fact that it was still displaying a crisp image when it cut off and is not cracked, leads me to believe it's not the screen.

I have checked the HD in a nother Laptop and it works fine.

I have tried to do a BIOS recovery but when the guide says my power light will blink while holding FN and ESC, it doesn't blink and only stays lit. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I am VERY broke and need this for my upcoming semester in college for notes/papers and would appreciate any help. I'm desperately hoping it's not my motherboard but i realize that it most likely is. What could a sudden jolt mess up easily? I dropped my compaq down a flight of stairs a year or 2 ago, it broke the cd tray and hinges for the screen but still worked.... I hope you folks can help me figure this out!
