I have installed a V-lited version of vista onto my acer aspire one, but cant get the Lan to work or the Wlan, the Wlan doesnt even show up in the device manager and i cant find drivers for it as i dont know wat module it is.

Does anyone know which wireless card it is or were i can find drivers for the wlan?
Also i cant find a driver for the ethernet controller.

Ive been searching all day with no luck, can anyone help me?

Try using the Windows XP drivers and see if they work.

Is the WLAN enabled/switched on on your One? It should appear in your Device Manager even if it's drivers aren't installed.

Are there any Unknown devices in Device Manager? What devices are listed under Network Adapters?

Theres the Unknown ethernet Adapter and the realtek adapter. The realtek says something along the lines of "device cannot be started (code 10)

First uninstall any drivers that you've installed for the network adapters and restart the One.

Then download these drivers for the Realtek adapter:

    ftp://152.104.238.19/cn/nic/Install_Vista_6210_1009.zip

and use the INF from here:

    http://www.atheros.cz/download.php?atheros=AR5007EG&system=3

to update the driver in Device Manager for the Unknown Ethernet adapter.

See if any of them help.

Otherwise I fear when you vLited you removed some vital components required for the network adapters to operate correctly.

you need realtek 8102E drivers, I believe Vista gets this wrong.

As for the Atheros, you need the drivers for the AR5007EG.

I have installed Vista on the AAO with no issues but I can't recall where I have gotten the drivers from.

I hope you did'nt remove readyboost, you could use the SD card slot on the right alongside a good fast card (Panasonic SD/Sandisk Ultra,Extreme III or some other class 6) would work well and does help.

For those of you who have upgraded their Aspire one to Windows Vista and are having trouble finding drivers for the Realtek 8102E LAN click on the following link

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-62505-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&lang=en&os=2093&product=3810238

For the Atheros WLAN u can find it by going to http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/portal20.cfm?website=AcerPanAm.com&siteid=7117&areaid=2&formid=3394 and select the Acer Aspire 4520 laptop from the pull down menu. It has the same atheros wireless card as the aspire one. The Launch Manager, Touchpad from the acer site also worked. Realtek HD Audio drivers i got directly from realtek. The card reader driver i got from softpedia http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/Other-DRIVERS-TOOLS/Others/JMicron-JMB38X-Card-Reader-Driver-10026-WHQL.shtml

So far I've had no problems with Vista, sure its no speed demon but it runs pretty smooth even with Aero on ( 1GB SD card set up as readyboost)...
