I'm using a 9-cell battery (not bought from Acer) with my Acer Aspire One, but the battery won't recharge, despite the charging light being on and the computer listing the battery as "charging." The battery is permanently at 0% power and the computer won't remain on without being plugged into an outlet.
I realize this is a common BIOS issue, however, I HAVE installed the BIOS update available on the Acer website which is meant to fix the problem. Installing the update fixed the problem initially, but for many weeks after that the battery would only occasionally charge--I would frequently have to redo the BIOS update or remove the battery for certain periods of time to get it to charge again. Now, the battery will not recharge at all, despite how many times I try those solutions.
I'm using an Acer Aspire One model AOA 150, running Windows XP.
Does anybody have any ideas? I'd appreciate it a bunch.

Welcome to the forums Johnnyman9
It may be battery related rather than notebook related.
Does the original battery still charge? Did you have such problems with it too?
How battery is charged/discharges partially depends on a BIOS but partially on a chip that's in the battery itself so it can be caused by either one or by combination of both. -
I agree, I suspect the battery as the culprit also.
