OK owners, I am looking to get my wife and myself Acer Aspire Ones, I think it would be a great backup (we have learned about that, I packed up this huge one I have and we have been sharing since I...dropped my midsized Acer) as well as being extremely portable. Give me your pros and cons. I want to get us a pair in the next couple months (need a Thinkpad first and fix the Acer) so figure I would start asking now. I have heard things about the fan noise but that is about it. We are going to trek over to an Office Max so we can get a good feel/visual then I will snipe them somewhere on Auction.
Thanks!

Krivens, they are very nice machines. If you only plan on using them as backups I would say go for it! The problem that you will find if you're used to a larger machine is that the keyboard and screen are a lot smaller which may make things difficult when using them for an extended period of time. Also check that it has enough processing power to do what you require it to. On the whole they are very good and I would highly recommend it. We see a lot of students with them so they can obviously cope with a bit of a beating.

We just got one for our teenager, who loves it and easily packs it in his bookbag and takes it to his friends houses. Unfortuantely, it runs very slowy now, after a week of gaming and recording videos and guitar music on it. I'm trying to figure out how to speed it up now, which is how I found this site. It is a neat little machine, but, as rod.saviers says, the keys and screen are small and take some getting used to. My 15.4" Dell looks huge next to it. For us, the jury is still out, but I am hopeful that it will work out.

Have you tried defragging it? Seems like you may have loaded a bunch of extraneous data onto the HDD, and that will make one slow down if you don't organize it. Can also make one crash. Also run CCleaner, as surfing the net adds a bunch of crap onto your HDD, do that before you defrag.
Try the simple things first, before posting detracting comments to avert potential buyers of an absolutely awesome laptop.
What are you using to record guitar music? May bee too much for it to handle, unless you upgrade hardware/memory.
I use mine everyday, not bad at all for daily use. It's my school laptop; I write papers and everything on it.
Acer Aspire One, general questions.
