I am trying to fix an Acer Aspire 1642WLMi and have spent several days attempting to retrieve the Acer MBR files from the hidden partition to no avail - I don't think they are there. I have a recovery disc but I can't get it to run without resetting the MBR so I've just about resolved to wipe the disk completely and reinstall Windows without any of the Acer programs but it suddenly occurred to me, are there any dangers to this strategy? Should I retain the hidden partition or can I just make it one big one? Any advice, experiences would be appreciated.

You can format and do a clean install- just use product key from the sticker and download what you need (i.e.Launch Manager) form Acer support website.
