    Hi there,

I recently used an Acer Aspire S5 which had this strange problem (and in fact it happened on another laptop as well, I believe it was a HP - this also ran Windows 8).

What would happen is when I am using the trackpad to move the cursor on the old windows style screen, it randomly changes to the metro screen. This got pretty unconvenient because I ended in a situation where I was really careful that the screen wouldn't change back.

    1. What am I doing to cause this and how could it be prevented?

    2. On a slightly different note, when I click on a few Metro tiles, a few of them might be open, but I don't know how to close them so if any one can guide me in doing this that would be great.

I know this might be more of a Windows 8 question but I got the feeling that I was doing something strange on the trackpad so that I'd ask here.

    Thanks for the help

Okay guys it seems that I've made some progress with these two questions.

    1. It appears that when I swipe on the trackpad from left to right all the way and quickly it changes screens because I'm assuming that there are other screens that might be opened and that's why they are changed. The only issue was that I had no way of viewing these other screens so I wasn't aware that they were opened. I suppose that on a touchpad this might be more intuitive, a bit like how it works on a touch phone where you swipe the screen to left or right and it moves to another screen but as I wasn't used to doing this on a Windows laptop and using the trackpad rather than the screen (as it's not touch as you know) it was less clear at first. This appears to be accurate but correct me if I'm wrong.

    2. This was simpler since I realised that by pointing the cursor to the top left corner and right clicking it was possible to choose close and thus I did this to close of the extra open "screens".

I get the impression that some of the workings of Windows 8 is not so intuitive BUT perhaps as Window 8 is a hybrid OS that is with the modern UI and the "old" UI, then using a hybrid laptops will make Windows 8 easier to use and it will be more intuitive.

The only problem is the laptop hybrids are not fantastic currently in my opinion. They still seem to be in their infancy. For me, if the Samsung Series 9 15 inch could do a "Lenovo Yoga" and so bend backwards whilst been touch screen and weighing the same 1.4kg, as well as not losing battery life that would be ideal.
