Cool. Mine will be here tomorrow as well! I'm in Socal too.

I just ordered mine with the MS store sale(had to call and get them to honor it). I tried to buy it last night but it turned out my college had given me an email address that can only receive emails from teachers & other students.
The customer support was very helpful and the guy immediately knew what I wanted at the mention of Acer. He's been dealing with these calls all night apparently. Their system didn't have any record of my trying to send the verification email to my college; but fortunately I have a 'healthy dose of paranoia' and I snapped a picture of the sale last night while waiting for the email. If I hadn't done that I would have missed out.
It's my first laptop so I'm really not sure what to expect. Anyone tested Civ5 out on it yet? -
arghhhh i want it tomorrow too ;P -

my shipping confirmation email shows 392 9640 version. estimated delivery Wednesday. I paid for next day shipping. my order information online also shows $1169 and the same 392 i7 256ssd configuration

$1169 what a nice deal. I got mine full price. $1649. would've been great to get that discount. still worth it though.

`At that price for $70 more you get an additional year's warranty at Amazon -
Mine (ordered at accident price) should be here today. It looks like the SKU is correct for the 392 model so phew.

Hi all. So I'm using my new S7-392 for a couple days now. Design, form factor, weight, screen, battery life are really amazing.
However there are a couple of things that are killing me, not sure if anyone else is noticing the same.
1) The backlight in the keyboard makes a high pitched noise when it's on.
2) The two finger scrolling is inverted (up to scroll down, down to scroll up). I found the setting in the mouse control panel to turn off the inverted scrolling but the option is faded out and I cannot adjust it.
3) Keyboard keys are a big unresponsive. Unless you hit each key perfectly in the center, it doesn't register the keystroke.
Anyone else noticing these issues and/or have some solutions?
Thanks in advance! -

Got my 392 at the crazy discount price. Love it so far. Does anybody know how to reverse the default scroll direction fro two finger touchpad scrolling? The check box is greyed out in the Synaptics menu.
Also, note on key travel: there is still very little of it, but I went to a Microcenter yesterday and played with a 391, and the key travel is MUCH better than the 391's. -
I just hope the keyboard is good enough for me, this is my only concern with this laptop because everything else would be perfect imo.
-
Does anyone know what the Acer converter port (right next to HDMI) does? I can't find any adapters for it. It would be nice to use that port for an ethernet adapter instead of using up a USB port.

Does your keyboard backlight make a high pitched sound? -
-
No way, there has to be a way to disable inverted scrolling. If there is no way, I will not be able to keep this laptop.
Has anyone managed to disable inverted scrolling? Thanks in advance -

Someone let me know when you figure out how to reverse inverse scrolling.... Mine will be coming tomorrow and reversing that will be among the first things I do, if possible.
And what's this high pitched sound with backlit keyboards? ..... -
the high pitch sound (barely audible, and really, its more of a buzzing noise) is standard for all acer s7's when backlight is on. It is not a defect, but rather a result of the backlight technology they chose to employ. (i think*)

the acer s7 is definitely a nice looking ultra

just received my acer today and I'm loving it so far... However, anybody know how accurate the battery time indicator is. Sometimes I would be at 84% and it would say i have 2 hours and change left. Then it would jump up to around 5 hours and change. Seems like its draining rather quickly though.
-
^Get a software that checks battery health. One of the Amazonian reviews I read said they had like 95% battery health right out of the box, which shouldn't be until it's ~1yr old at least.

Just received my S7 today. It's fantastic. I love the build quality, screen, keyboard, touchpad, really pretty much everything. The only thing that bothers me is that the space bar press does not feel as high firm as the others, and it makes a springy sound. This is my first Windows 8 device, and I actually really like it. Easy to use with the touch screen. I'll post more of my thoughts as I use it more in school.

nm, i got the f6flpy-x64.zip file directly from intel and it worked.
i just got the i5 128gb version (decent deal at rakuten with 20% bonus points), and i was hoping to do a clean install of windows 8. i switched on the f12 boot menu setting and was able to get the process started with a windows 8 iso. after i choose custom install, it asks "where do i want to install windows?" i know i need the driver for the hard drive, and i downloaded the intel sata achi driver from the acer site and put it in on a different usb drive. what exactly am i then looking for when i browse during the setup? i can't see any .zip files, and when i extract contents i only see folders, no files. thanks for any help. -

Not sure if Lisa's video review of the S7-392 has been posted yet...

The fit and finish is great. The keyboard is mediocre. The touchpad is below average because the mouse is very jumpy. I haven't been able to set the right sensitivity to my liking. The Synaptic drivers, as others have mentioned, are stripped down. Options are grayed out or simply invisible. As a matter of fact, Acer have outdated drivers listed on the support site. They need to ramp up the updates soon... I grabbed the latest wireless driver directly from Intel. It's a work in progress...
-
have you tried the generic drivers on the synaptics website?

Does anyone know if the acer website has the most updated drivers?
thanks -

I received mine yesterday. So far still playing around with it. My biggest gripe is the lack of separate function keys since I use them.
Some thoughts:
1) I like the inverted scrolling. It seems more intuitive. This is exactly how apple does it with their computers too.
2) Power brick is really awkward.
3) Keyboard lacks feedback, but I was able to type 54 wpm with 3 mistakes while lying down in bed so its picking up all keys.
My only "real" concern long term is that acer is a lesser known brand so if I need to repair the machine anytime in the future, it might be difficult to find parts where as owning an apple or sony. I took my sony vaio SR190 apart several times (replaced DC jack, upgraded ram, upgraded hd, reapplied thermal paste 3 times). Computer still runs strong, but I needed better battery life for my grad program.
I'm thinking of doing a dual boot with OSX. Anyone try this? -
Another issue: Today I noticed the left side of my trackpad is not secure. If I push down the top right corner, there is no movement, but if I push on the top left, it flexes in. This is a little worrisome. For a high end machine, I expect everything to be built to last.

Guys, please help me decide between the XPS 12 and Acer s7 (haswell editions)!!! I am torn! Please factor in the prices (I got both at nice discounts): I have these versions:
Dell XPS 12 (i7-4500u, 8gb ddr3, 128gb ssd) for $912 + tax.
OR
Acer s7-392-9460 (i7-4500u, 8gb ddr3, 256gb ssd) for $1169 + tax.
Thanks in advance!
ps- im not looking for logic really... Just decide for me (because one of 'em has to go back)!!! haha -
Love it so far, but want to trouble shoot some small gripes:
In touchpad settings, I can't seem to change certain things like 2 finger scrolling speed or reverse the inverse direction. Same for a few other touchpad options - you can see the ability to change it, but it is grey'd out and un changeable. Why? How do we change this
Also, some programs are fuzzy in the 1080p, like chrome. Also, scrolling on chrome is kinda nasty, idk why. On IE, scrolling is macbook air level and the 1080p resolution is crisp. What's the issue with this? Any way to fix?
Oh and did anyone figure out the touchpad drivers?
