    Hi all,

    Had my Acer Aspire 8930 for 11 months now and I've always assumed it displayed images at 1920 x 1080 because of the blu ray drive and the fact it has a sticker on the front of the laptop which says 'FULL HD 1080 PLAYBACK'.

    I've just gone into my display settings and it says 1680 x 945!

    That is on the highest setting possible.

    The sticker on the side of the box it came in says;

    Aspire 8930G - 584G32Bn which according to http://www.acerdirect.co.uk/Acer_Aspire_8930G-584G32Bn_Gemstone_Blue_Laptop_LX.AC20X.039/version.asp states at the top in the summary it boasts 1920 x 1080.

    How can the sticker on my laptop claim full HD at 1080? Do I have the wrong screen on my laptop or am I missing something?

    Would appreciate some help before I ring where I got the laptop from.

    Thanks.

    some 8930's have 1080, yours does not. in the specs as well as the bullet-ed summary for that model it states the native resolution of 1680 x 945 ( WXGA )

    :eek:

    The biggest reason I bought this laptop was for the HD screen :( which I was lead to believe it had from the retailer I bought it from.

    How come it has a sticker on it saying FULL HD 1080 PLAYBACK?

    Beucase the video card can do 1080p playback, in other words, you can conenct it via HDMI to a full HD LCD screen and enjoy your movies.

    In fairness to the OP, the description in the link does say "The sensational 16:9 Acer CineCrystalâ„¢ Full HD display boasts a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution for true-to-master cinematic view", which is very misleading because it directly implies the screen itself is that resolution. They probably just used the same description that they used for the 1920x1080 model, but it's very careless of them.
