ok i have an acer aspire 5100 series everything is great on it except i have this weird problem, when i connect to my wireless network after is says connected i open the iexplorer and then the laptop shuts off. Thats the only time it does that, if i dont connect to the internet it works fine and never turns off. First i thought it was overheating but i bought those fans that go under the laptops and still shuts off when i connect to my wireless network. Anyone have any idead of what could be causing this??

Hi and welcome to the forums!

Does this occur when you're using wifi only, or does it also happen when you're using a lan cable?
Try using FireFox and see if you can browse the net without having the system shut down. If that doesn't help, I'd suggest reinstalling the your lan and wifi drivers. Make sure you uninstall your current drivers first before installing the new. Also check to see if your internet works in safe mode.

Your last resort would be to perform a clean install of your operating system if all the above fails. Make sure you back up all your important data before doing so. Hopefully this would not be a hardware issue as that will require you to send your laptop in for repairs.

You should have a drivers disk that came with your laptop. If not, you can download them from the Acer website.

This behavior sounds like a virus or some other kind of malware; have you scanned your notebook recently with a good antivirus program?

If no viruses are found then you should check the windows system logs (on next start up right after the notebook shuts off unexpectedly) and see what it reports is causing the unexpected shut down. To see the system log go into control panel and then administrative tools then event log, check for any red "x" in the log and see what it says.
