    Hi all,

    My battery just died and after a bit of research I found 2 models that actually suit the original battery as replacements.

    These are:

    AS09D56 -> 10.8V, 5800mAh, 63Wh
    AS09D70 -> 11.1V, 5600mAh, 56Wh

    Can somebody tell me which model of the 2 is recommended as of:
    1. voltage, as my original battery was 11.1 but a 10.8 seems to work just fine (tried a friends battery). Will the voltage have any effect at all?
    2. juice, does the 5800mAh/63Wh bean the battery will have (even little) more lasting power?
    3. is there any reference of which model is newer (perhaps revised by Acer)?
    4. where do you recommend to buy batteries (in the UK or Europe in general). I found some on ebay, but the part number is not always exact and I cannot be sure that the batteries are not Chinese fake replacements (which usually are of inferior quality even with more mAh).

    BTW here are 2 listings I found:
    What seems to be AS09D70
    Also another one

    Also, do you think putting an SSD inside it will make huge difference in terms of performance and battery consumption? I noticed a great performance increase on my desktop when I installed 2 Intel 80GB SSDs in RAID0, but I am not sure f the laptop's MoBo will not bottleneck an SSDs performance anyway...

    Thanks a lot! :eek:

    Voltage doesn't have any effect as it's internally regulated anyway so out of those two AS09D56 -> 10.8V, 5800mAh, 63Wh would be better.
    Usually there are no newer batteries- Acer just buys them from different companies just like hard drivers so don't assume newer is better or anything.
    If anything- buy a battery based on Sanyo cells if you can- these seem to be the best.

    Thanks for the info! I couldn't find a Sanyo cell based battery replacement, so I just went and bought the AS09D56 -> 10.8V, 5800mAh, 63Wh.

    Now I am thinking of rebuilding my old (dead) battery to have it as a backup so i have a couple of questions again :)

    1. Do the cells inside the original battery meet the 18650 spec?
    2. How many of these would I need? I suppose from their size it is 3, but 3x2600=7800mAh which looks amazing but can it be true? :)
    3. I found these here, do you think they would do?
    4. Is there any danger involved? I am quite handy but I have never dealt with batteries before.

    Thanks in advance and excellent forum BTW!

    Regards

    It would be best to open the original battery and see inside before making any purchase. Cells are often of different shapes (physical dimensions) so knowing how it all looks inside would make choosing new ones easier.
