Well, I recently wiped out my Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit partition and installed Windows 7 Professional RTM 64-bit on it. I see the performance of booting up increased (using a SSD), programs opened faster (SSD), and shut down is a bit more faster also. The thing I'm concern about is the battery life. It seems to get shorter battery life.. the meter says 5 hours 31 minute on a 98% battery when windows vista says around 8 hours on that percentage. Both were idling. Is that normal that Windows 7 uses more battery or what?

Also, I was wondering where can I get CyberLink DVD for my Acer since I'm running Windows 7 instead of Vista Home Premium which was preinstalled on the Acer.

you installed epower and elauncher 64 bits already??
Im using it in my 3810t c2d with ssd... and get very good battery times -

I just notice that the DVD tray in Windows 7, It doesn't turn off like in Vista.. I think that's why it uses more battery.. even though I have the ePower installed.

so no other suggestions?

try to set CPU maximum state at a low percentage (from power options)

I don't really think it is the CPU problem though...
On vista, the Acer ePower Management turned off the optical drive while in Windows 7, it doesn't turn off. -
In my opinion, the original Vista installation, had a lot of functions, processor, video, ports, etc optimized in partnership with Intel to get the power optimizations. Wait until the Acer shipped Win7 arrives and evaluate the difference after they, Intel and Acer, optimize the Win7 software systems for inproved battery life. My 4810T is triple booted with Win7 RC, (64bit); Vista (64 bit, original Acer install); and Win7 RTM, (32 bit), and the power management and speed variables are obvious.

heh... I'm just annoyed that I get shorter battery life on Windows 7 than Windows Vista ><... I'm too lazy to install Windows Vista again and uninstall all the crap wares.. which would take a whole day almost.. Windows 7 is pretty good, just that the battery life..

I just installed win 7 ultimate, does anyone know all the drivers to download for the 8480? when i go to acer website to look for drivers, they have quite a few drivers.. not sure which ones go for this model such as the mouse(scroll on mouse doesn't work). there are 2 different drivers there. any tips? and should i update my Bios? and how? Also CPU from time to time shows 100% usage meanwhile i only have google chrome open or even no windows open. ANY tips are greatly appreciated!
