So I just bought an Acer Aspire Timeline AS3810T-8737 on Newegg last weekend(11/29/09). They're shipping it already, after reading about the recall I called them and they said I can refuse the order if I choose and get a refund. What are the odds that this system will be a recall system? I would imagine there's a good chance this system was built before September 15, 2009. I just don't want to deal with sending the system in when I can just purchase a comparable ASUS without the headaches... than again I'd be happy with the system if it's not a fire hazard :p Anyways I'd appreciate any advice, once I open it I doubt newegg will take it back, even now it'll probably be a headache getting my money back.

Does the system you have ordered not come with Windows 7?

I doubt it will have been made before 15th September then, I think alot of 7 machines were made late Sept and Oct.

My UK spec 1810 was a lauch machine and was made 2009/10/09.

I'd see when it comes, you can always return if if you don't like the date on it. It's not like you can stop it now as its already shipped.

Unfortunately newegg has a strict return policy with a lot of their laptops(Read the fine print!). Their computer replacement policy is much different than their standard replacement policy.

    Personal Computer Replacement Policy
    Summary
    Return for refund within: non-refundable
Return for replacement within: 30 days
There must be a minimum of 8 dead pixels to declare an LCD display defective and eligible for return.

So basically I can't open the package, I can just deny it and have UPS send it back. They will than refund my money otherwise I'll call my credit card company and fight the charges.

I agree with this, it probably wasn't made early enough for the recall. My 3810t was recalled, but I haven't sent it in and I have no issues with it.
