I found that the 1810T with no factory installed 3G modules have no PCI-e slot to install 3G module yourself. Further it has no sim slot present in it you will have to solder one. And there is not antenna for 3G in it.
Another interesting and surprising thing I can not find any offical acer 1810T configurtaion that includes offical 3G module in it. I have seen all offical websites of different countries i.e. USA, UK, Germanay, France and Malaysia acer websites. It seems that acer specification for 1810T are fishy they are saying that 3G is available in the general specification but they are not providing any configuration with 3g present in it even the slots needed for 3g are not present. So the main thing if no slots are present then installation is almost impossible so NO 3G for 1810T that is the result. Soldering is not a practical option. -
I have no access to this page?
-
My 1810TZ has a Sim slot under the battery(and I think all 1810T's have). It's just not connected to anything.
-
That's strange.I can see the page just fine.It contains lot's and lot's of pics of a european 1810TZ with WWAN pre-installed.
-
Can you insure that its just hole in the plastic or there actually is something below that holds sim. You can insure that by iserting sim in it.
And you also need to have internal PCI-e to install 3G module yourelf. -
Flicker gives me this error message
This page is private. -
The only sim card that I have here right now is from my cell-phone and I am afraid to stick it there,no to get stuck in case it's just plastic.Maybe some other guys that have done it can help.
That is very weird with flickr!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Can you tell me the flicker search term?

I mean any serach string that i can use to search on flickr?
This means 1810t (not 1810tz) was never released with integerated 3g module? -
So you are not sure that it has sim slot in it or not?
-
No I am not.I removed the battery and there is a slot in there that says Sim slot but I am not sticking my cell phone Sim in there.Never heard of 1810T with 3G pre-installed.Problem is that pre-installed 3g came out in Europe only and the 1810t were almost none existent in Europe(unlike the 1810TZ)
-
It seems that then Dell vostro v13 is the only option the bad thing is it has 13 inch screen which make its volume too much. Otherwise it has a better cpu than 1810tz. You can have v13 with 3g module. I tried my best to find something decent in 11.6 inch but finding that acer just release fussy specifications and never practically provided the actual product. I can not buy 1810TZ because of su4100 which does not support virtulization.
-
I can see your point.Keep in mind though that whatever you choose vitualization is irrelevant anymore.Win7 does not require VT-enabled machines to run XP mode anymore.

Acer US homepage shows link to the TimelineX page. Guess what's coming soon!
-
No I need virtulization for different thing. I will install Sun Virtual Box over windows and will install Fedora 12 in it as guest. Anyways virtulization is a hardware feature and it is not specifically developed for windows and just needed for windows only.

Nice catch. I love that cae texture - I hope that is on the 1830t as well as the bigger models. -

I think I will buy the 1810 then. You can spend years waiting for the new next model
I guess it will be at least july until the 1830 is out and reviewed.
---- and it was 200 kr cheaper at computercity (3800 dkk = 510). Funny why that didn't come up on edbpriser.dk? -
The lenovo is clearly the first netbook which seriously competes with 1830T, if it is sold before the acer, I'll probably buy it...
-
Well, you can't buy the 1830T yet, but you can now buy a screen protector for it...

Sure seems like it's about to come out...
and about that Lenovo : a core i7 on an 11' ?!?! fantastic! too bad there's no switchable graphics... looks really promising...
edit : you can also choose these processors for the U160, just under the core i3, i5 or i7 :
Intel Celeron U3400 (1.06GHz, 2MB cache) AND Pentium U5400 (1.2GHz, 3MB cache)
Maybe we'll finally have more details. -
Guys do you believe the estimate price of 1830T we're talking about here(around 799Euro)? I think that's not clearly possible for simple reason - you can buy now 3820T for 650euro(Intel Core i5 430M, 13.3" LED CrystalBrite 1366x768,DDR3 RAM 4GB,ATI HD5650 1GB, 640GB HDD, WiFi, BlueTooth, Webkamera, HDMI, Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit) If you bear in mind that, then 1830T with i3(even with i5), much worse graphics and smaller HDD can not cost more than 550euro - max 600euro
-
These look really nice. I will never understand Lenovo's models. X201, X201s, this one and X100 all seem to be competing with each other. Fudzilla anounced that over 100 new laptops will be introduced before fall with AMD power. Still waiting for a CULV/switchable GPW combo in an 11.6". Until then, my 1410T will be my faithful travel companion.

Where do you buy a 3820T (with i5 and ati graphics) for 650? This model is starting at minimum 840.
-
The I3-330UM version of the 11.6" Travelmate 8172 (1830T clone) is listed for sale on Provantage at $622 USD. With the 11.6" CULV models costing in the $450 range, that price would seem around right.
Bronsky -
799 euros gets you the core i5 and 4 gb of ram. For 500, you'll get a much less powerful u5400 and only 2gb of ram, and no bluetooth. So yeah, it looks like they jacked up their price (the 1810T was way underpriced). As for the 3820TG, to get the extra graphics, you'll need at least 749 euros (and that only gives you a core i3).
Have you never realized that the smaller they are, the more expensive they get? Except for netbooks, of course. But we're talking about 11' notebooks with great processors. -
Great... The 1830T has now been pulled from notebook.de
-
Its a good notebook most probably like its current version U150 you will not be able to have Internal 3G in it as well.
-
Seimens Fujitsu Lifebook P3110 is avialable in UK for 722£. It is sold at 722£ with 2GB RAM but has an empty slot so an extra 2GB RAM can be put in.
The key features are
-SU7300
-Gobi 3G module already installed
-Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR (not very special thing but most 11.6 also does not include this)
-Wireless n 300Mbps probably better than Draft N which is commonly used in other notebooks.
- Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
Bad things
-No HDMI connection
-No ESATA connection
-No Gigabit LAN
-No 64-bit OS provided.
Does anybody have any idea Fujitsu after sales support in UK? Quality of their service? -

Here is the website ( Lenovo U150 Ideapad Announced | Netbookz) which says U150 came with optional 3G but lenovo itself is saying that they do not provide 3G with U150 you can ask this from lenovo sales or technical support. So the info. of optional 3G with U160 can be doubtful.

TheDudeComputes Notebook Consultant
Actually the Lenovo lines are pretty easy. Anything with an ideapad name is consumer (such as the U160). I started looking at the 1810t because the u150 didn't review well for its price.
Anything thinkpad is business. The x100 is a bit tricky, but the intent was to provide a managed platform to any company that say wants to give 1,000 netbooks to field workers or something like that. Cost no object, the x201s is as close to a perfect ultralight as I have ever seen. Now mind you I say that having owned to older Xs and currently have a Thinkpad T61p and T400. -
3820TG with i5-430M, 4GB DDR3, 640GB HDD, Ati HD5650 for 19 298CZK incl. tax = 650euro
Acer Aspire 3820TG-434G64MN (LX.PV102.164) TimelineX - Windows 7 (ANACOMP)
I can find you 20 shops in the Czech rep. where you can buy it under 700euros
that's why I dont believe 1830T's price tag of 799euro as it was listed on notebook.de I think it was a complete wind up and it is also why 1830T now disappeared after 3 weeks from their website. -
The Travelmate 8172 has finally shown up on the Acer USA product page.

Meanwhile :
"Acer Aspire 1551
This is another 11.6 inch model. In fact, it looks an awful lot like the Aspire 721. But the difference is that this model has an AMD Turion II Neo dual core processor and ATI Radeon HD 4225 graphics.
The display has a native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, and like the other models it should support 1080p HD video playback. The Aspire 1551 comes with an HDMI port and WiFi. Bluetooth and 3G options are available. The notebook runs Windows 7 Home Premium."
source : Acer introduces Aspire 521, 721, 1551 AMD-powered mini-laptops
So, the 11.6 inch Aspire would have dedicated graphics while the 11.6 inch Timeline wouldn't ????

I think it is because of the change in processor(CPU). I have found the specification on www.acer.de and www.acer.fr are changed for 1830T. Bad no core i5 mentioned only Core 2 Solo Processor 3 MB mentioned. May be core i5 is dropped for Europe very bad.
As mentioned earlier in the thread it is U5400 i tried to find info. on ark.intel.com but can not find any relevant info. Its probably less better than SU7300 probably no virtulization support. -
I'm more interested in finding information on this right now :
AMD Turion II Neo X2 K625 (1.5 GHz, 2 MB L2 Cache) + ATI Radeon HD 4225 -

This thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/424930-acer-1410-1810t-1810tz-add-3g-hsdpa-wwan-mod.html insures that you need to have unusual modification to have internal 3G module (WWAN) in 1810T (not 1810TZ).

Those pages have been up a long time with incorrect processor listing. I think ACER just slapped up some placeholder data when they were making the spec. sheet several months ago, and have not yet gotten around to fixing it, since the machine isn't really released yet. At one point, that page was on the US site, then pulled. -

Amazon germany is now showing 2 to 3 week availability at 520 euro for a lower-end processor:
Acer Aspire TimelineX 1830TZ-U542G32N 29,4 cm Notebook: Amazon.de: Elektronik -
Ouch, that's expensive for the entry model. I paid around 400EUR for a 1810T Special Edition
-
TheDudeComputes Notebook Consultant
But it beats 799 euros that has appeared elsewhere. Also, if that is i3 based, it should still be faster than a u7300 1810T. -
It is Intel Core2 Solo Processor not i3. Which is also U5400 and probably some derivative of SU4100. I doubt that it will be better than SU7300 which was provided in 1810T (not 1810TZ)
To make things clear there are 2 models of 1810T the 1810T and 1810TZ. 1810T has better processor SU7300 but no internal 3G module where as 1810TZ has SU4100 but provides internal 3G module. So in case of acer you can either have good processor or internal 3G but not both.
Probably it will be same for 1830T that is 1830TZ will have some derivative of SU4100 which is U5400. -
The U5400 is not a core2, its an arrandale based CPU with some features removed compared to the i5-520UM.
It has no absolutely nothing in common with the SU4100 apart from the Pentium brand, which Intel uses for its middle class CPUs. -
There were actually 2 1810Ts and 1810TZ. The very first 1810 was a SU3500 model sold only in Europe. It later became the 1410. There was even another 1410 that Acer sold a about 5 years ago that has no relation to the current 1410/1810.
