Ok you are rite. But my question is will U5400 be better then SU7300? Remeber that apart from duel core and processing speed there are many other aspects of comparison like cache size, support for virtulization etc.

But nothing is 1810T series was released with SU7300 and Internal 3G module at the same. If one configuration contains one thing it should be missing the other. Probably if you put them together you can not have 8+ hours battery life logo on the notebook.

Considering the small size of the notebook I think 3G module should be necessary in each configuration if not necessary at least the provisions should be left that if somebody want to install one in future should be able to install. I think small size is for mobility.

Today (14/May/2010) I have seen advertisment of Timeline X series in The Daily Telegraph it mentions 11.6 as well so probably very close to release see what comes out.

???? A Core i5-430UM version! So with the Core i5-520UM expect to pay at minimum $799.99? The AMD K325 version costs around $500. And with the Lenovo U160, you can go up to a Core i7-640UM, and with my ssd battery life would be around 8 hours. Hmm...

Wow! You can actually buy a full powered I3/3820T for $702. That would be less than this I5-430UM version of the 1830T.

    Bronsky

I kind of like the Lenovo U160.

What do you mean by provisions. My 1810T does have the "slot" for the SIM card, so I guess I could install the module. However, I find it cheaper and more convenient to tether from my iphone via BT

The Canadian model may be different fromthe European one, but a couple of pages back there was talk about there being an empty slot but none of the electrical connections required for a SIM.

Yes.. all 1810T and 1810TZ models have the opening "the slot", but only a very few units sold in Germany have the connector behind the opening. Some folks have inserted a phone card and need to disassemble their 1810 to recover the card (and to prevent damage to their machines).

Some 1410 models sold by telecom companies in Taiwan and Singapore also had the 3G connector soldiered onto the motherboards. And I'm sure Chungwa Telecom in Taipei recently had a 2-year contract deal for a 3g-ready Acer AS1420 tablet machine, because I visited Chungwa and talked with a service rep.

Don't expect the new 1830 models to be 3G-ready, BTW.

The 3820T is the 13" TimelineX.
When I left Taipei a month ago,
you could buy the TimelineX 13" 3820T
with the slow i3 CPU almost everywhere.

But the 11.6" 1830T is a very different machine.
Lets hope an i5UM version arrives by Christmas.

I also need to add that in 1810T there should be no internal antena and no free PCIe slot soldered on the motherboard according to this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/424930-acer-1410-1810t-1810tz-add-3g-hsdpa-wwan-mod.html

Asus UL30JT. A Fujitsu has the Core i7-620/640UM.

I disagree. The next gen will be based off the Sandy Bridge architecture which will debut in notebooks in early 2011. Notebookcheck is talking about the current ulv Core i3/i5/i7's that are only available in select notebooks now.

At least it got "real" pics instead of the PR shots.

and this : "Acer TimelineX 1830T equips with the standard 1366×768 resolution screen , 3GB DDR3 memory and 640G hard drive, Intel GMA HD integrated graphics card, pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium system."

But for the REALLY interesting part : " Acer TimelineX 1830T gets 3.2 points in Windows 7, 4.9 points in Core i5-520UM processor, 5.2 points in memory score, the minimum score is in graphics card."

From the screenshot, it scores a whopping 4.5 for 3D ???? How is that even possible?

I spoke to one of the staff on the Acer stand in T5 Heathrow yesterday and he told me that they will be receiving training on the new models, including the 1830T, on Thursday of this week. He expected to receive the new machines onto the stand in the next week or so.
His advice was to definitely wait.

I hope there is a Core i7-640UM, otherwise the Lenovo U160 looks more tempting. My SU9400 scores a 4.2 in Windows Experience Index, so 4.9 (even with Turbo Boost) is not a great improvement. But it is nice to see the 1.06GHz Core i5 is an improvement at least over the 1.4GHz SU9400.

HD graphics are twice as powerful as the GMA 4500, so obviously the gaming and 3D score would go up.

I agree... and the comparison was with a su4300, su7300 or su9400?? As I said several times I bet that compared to a SU9400 the performance will be very similar if not change at all...

This 1830t doesn't worth the extra cost at all, just slightly thinner and the graphic a bit better in games.... let's wait for a real new model better, and let's drop this one.

well you drop this one while we patiently continue waiting for it, ok? The 1810T with a su9400 cpu is still selling for almost 700 $, so forgive us for wanting in on the core i5 action if it's in the same price range...

and you said it yourself : thinner and better graphics.

I wish that there will be some configuration available for 1830t which will contain ulv core i5 and internal 3g module and Bluetooth all at the same time. But my feeling is that the configurations that will have 3g in them will only contain u5400, if that will be the case I will bye fujitsu P3110 and will think that my wait was invain. I need something with 3g internal module and at least su7300 I think people bye 11.6 for mobility needs and no 3g module in such a small notebook seems design mistake at least they should have slots and antenna if someone need to add one in future

I am not impressed either. And furthermore my 1810TZ with SU4100(NOT SU9400) has those exact same numbers. And right now you can easily find it for 500$ ,even less if you catch a super deal.
Having said that if i didn't have a notebook right now I will probably wait for the 1830T.Especially if I wasn't so budget concious. At any rate I think it's too early to make comparisons based on numbers.Numbers are one thing, real life use is another. For example the 1830T may fly but it can also get noisy and hot and have unimpressive battery life.Or the opposite,it may be so quiet and cool and that little increase in graphics power may make all the difference. The only way to compare them is to wait until they come out.At first glance they look so similar that price will definitely be a deciding factor.

According to this site, 6200 yuan, about $910 for the 1830T-52U2G32n-3 which should be the i5 model. A little pricier than I hoped for.

Dunno how different prices are in China but I would imagine it to be a bit cheaper there being so close to the source and all.

Also, according to an auto-translate version of a Chinese forum thread about the 1830T, someone said that the dealers said it was suppose to come out on the 24th. Again this is in China so make of it what you will.

A new competitor, the Asus UL20FT with Core i3-330UM or Celeron U3400. I was waiting for the UL20 to be updated beyond Core 2, and now it has. Still seems to me my favorite Core i 11.6/12.1" is the Lenovo U160 due to its ability to be configured with a Core i7-640UM.

I like the U160 as well. The I7-640UM looks like the only low voltage CPU I would want in a subnotebook. As much as I have liked this little 1410T, I have recently encountered some field uses that make me think I would like to have a convertible tablet. It is much easier to look at a document or schematic in the field with tablet in place. A U160 tablet would be nice. :D

Remember that Asus dropped the ball on the UL20a. It was overpriced and under equipped to compete with the Acer 1410/1810. Too bad because it looked so promising. Maybe the FT will come through.

So u5400 is celeron so 1830T will also provide option for celeron version and celeron is definitely not better then SU7300 having 3MB cache. If I will buy 1830T I will definitely buy with core i5 ULV version or better.

I know, and so does the Acer. I'll have to key-map the Fn key to my pinky finger. Why can't at least Lenovo put the same keyboard layout on their consumer machines as they do onthe Thinkpad.

Did anyone really think Intel wouldn't release them? And let Core 2 Duo culv's (which are now super old and crusty) dominate until Sandy Bridge in Q1 2011?

Also, the Gateway EC19 looks to be the Gateway version of the 1830T.
