Hello,
I've been searching around the internet for over 3 days now for a solution but nothing seems to satisfy. I will try to summarize what happened with my laptop as much as I can.
I bought this second-hand Laptop 2 weeks ago. Everything was running fine but it had a BIOS-Password that I could not get, the previous owner did not respond for some reason. Anyway, I tried many ways to get rid of the password but nothing proved useful. I got to the point where I thought flashing BIOS with the newer version (2.28) provided by ACER (from their web-site / support & drivers page) might do it, so I downloaded the File and launched the Flasher but things went terribly wrong after that. The Laptop would not see any HDDs / Flash Drives with any kind of Live CDs or OS's, except for Ubuntu 14.04 Live CD & Manjaro (linux-based OS, based on Arch Linux), while on Manjaro it does not boot into the OS from the LIVE-CD (says Access denied .. ) it boots and functions normally with Ubuntu 14.04 live cd. It does not boot from the HDD after installing Ubuntu 14.04 on it though, so I can only use a flash usb drive with the ubuntu on.
Now I am stuck out of the Laptop, cannot boot into any HDDs (whether it has Linux or Windows OS) and cannot access BIOS (password is still on the way). I tried many ways including the emergency flashing mentioned in another topic ( here) on this forum but it does not work except for the file provided by the guy who wrote the post (firecode5), does not work with the older version (VAG114.fd) that was previously the BIOS's version. So I believe the flashing occurs but nothing changes, the Laptop shuts down and does not see/detect any HDDs or whatsoever after turning it on again, i believe this probably due to the fact that guy (firecode5) modified the version I flashed that caused the problem in the beginning (V2.28 / file name: VAG70-HC.fd).
Does anyone have any idea/suggestion that might help with this?
Many thanks,
H. Bar

EDIT: I have acquired more information regarding this problem, Apparently the problem happened because I flashed a locked BIOS, so the problem is after all a password one. Once I unlock the password things should go smooth afterwards.
Anyone has a modified BIOS patch (VAG70X64.fd) file that is modified to remove BIOS password?
Best,
H. Bar -
Discussing circumventing security measures is against forum rules.
You will have to wither get that password from the person who sold you the laptop or send it to Acer (which might be a problem considering you have no proper invoice). -
That is what I fear now. All I can provide is the ebay purchase information and the bank transfer note. I fear that this might turn out really bad if the guy who sold me the laptop actually stole it or "found" it somewhere, might explain why he is not informing me about the pw
I apologize about breaking the forum rules. -
No worries. You didn't do anything wrong by asking.
It's understandable that you want to remove BIOS password from your notebook.
Unfortunately we can't really help you do that.
