I recently bought this Acer model from Newegg during a sale. The hard drive was unstable, so any bump near the top left corner of the touchpad would hit the hard drive, and cause the laptop to shut off immediately.

As such, I tried to open up the back of it to see if there was a faulty screw or something on the hard drive, but I couldn't get it open.

After, I talked with a Newegg representative regarding a return, and she told me I could not get a replacement if the warranty seal was broken.

Now I am 100% sure there was no "VOID IF REMOVED" sticker on the outside of the back of the laptop. So my question is this, does this Aspire model allow user upgrades to certain parts? Or is there a seal inside which I could not see?

You are allowed to replace/upgrade RAM and HDD and there is no warranty seal on the inside.
Mind you there are different rules regarding warranty in different countries so that may differ (although again- I haven't heard of this being problem with Acers).
As for the warranty seal (or lack of it)- I've never seen one.

I live in America. And one further question, I opened it up and switched the placement of the HDD to see if it would fix the problem, which it didn't. Should I send it back to Acer or Newegg now? I still haven't broken any deal.

Yes that's probably a good time to send it back.

Thank you very much. I sent it back to Newegg. I'm just worried they'll see I opened it and try to blame the problem on me. Or say there was originally a warranty seal. I hope they're not jerks about returns.
