    Hi,
I connected the computer to my Television using the 13 (or is it 14 ?) pin plug plus a separate audio lead, I got the audio okay but I could only get my Wallpaper (desktop, screensaver??) appearing on the television. As my name implies I 'do not have a clue' with computers and I want to learn.
Thank you for any help and I apologise if this question has been asked before.

    Dexs.

It probably automatically expands screen- meaning your external screen is to the right from your internal one.
Grab one of the windows (Word, MediaPlayer- whatever) like you were to move it on the screen and drag it out through the right edge of the screen.

The part that vanished from your screen should be appearing on the left side of the external one.

Or you can use WIN KEY+P and choose "duplicate" in which case both screen will be cloned.

WIN KEY- they key with Windows logo- look at the keyboard.
P- letter P on the keyboard.

Press WIN KEY and (while still holding it) P. That will bring up a menu. While still keeping WIN KEY pressed tap on P once more- you'll see that different option is highlighted.
Check what happens when you highlight duplicate.
