    Hey guys,

I recently had a problem with my Acer Aspire 5050's screen. The Screen cracker/broke on the right side. It was still working but it was cracked so it had kind of rainbow colors coming out of the crack.

I had a Toshiba A70 laptop with a 15.4" screen lying around. The laptop wasn't working but the screen was.

So I decided to replace the Acer's LCD (14.1") with toshiba's. Anyways, since the connector on both LCDs was the same I was able to plug it in and it worked.

The colors were brilliant and everything was right, except the obvious problem. The screen was too big for Acer. So for the time being I decided to hook the screen up on the Lid using zip ties. LOL atleast its working.

I was thinking of separating the screen and the laptop and still be able to use it.

So for this I would need a longer video flex cable. The one that comes with Acer is just enough for the 14.1" screen. I had to rip the cloth around the cable so it would be 2-3cm longer to reach the back of 15.1" screen.

Here is the picture of one that comes with it:

What I was planning to do was get a really long spool of 44 Gauge wire (each wire inside the cable is really thin. I'm guessing it is 44 gauge not sure) and add it to that cable. So it would be around 6-6.5 foot long.

My question is would this work? or is there some sort of a limit for the wire? that is you make the wire longer than its supposed to be the signals wont go through?

This way I could place the laptop on the side and use the screen and wireless keyboard and mouse.

I also have a spare 17" screen. I will try to use that if my plan works with the 15" screen.
