After I turn on the power, the harddisk led doesn't turn on, just the CAP and NUM led flash once. The screen doesn't turn on, even the Acer logo doesn't appear. I can hear something is turning inside the notebook, but it's definitely not the harddisk.

I wonder if I had pressed some wrong buttons, and disable the notebook. Appreciate any suggestion. Thank You.

I have the same probably...it happened on Sun Morning Nov 9. It was working fine the previous night. Don't know if it's a software or bios issues....

I have the AA1 WindosXP with modded 1.5GB RAM

It seems that alot of ppl have the same problem....the BIOS somehow get's corrupted or something.... but follow the directions and it should be fixed within a couple minutes.

Notebookreview forum won't let me post links since i'm a new member...but just google "macles*: Acer Aspire One BIOS Recovery"

Thanks minhuci for your very useful info. One of my friends told me this 3304v of bios(downloaded from ACER web) is just only for the AAO running in SSD not for the harddisk type. I will try your method with a bootable usb flash drive, and will see whether it works or not.

3304 is for any AAO, regardless of HDD type. There is a new version out though, 3307a, which I have not tried as of yet. 3305 is official and can be had from Acer site.

Wow, thanks a lot, guys, all of you had given me a wonderful gift. I had just used the method, it works, and it works fine...... then my AAO returns back to normally functioning. Really appreciated for the tips.

If you have bios 3314, upgrading to 3304 should stop the BIOS corruption from happening, it hasn't happened to me since I have done so. I will be trying 3307a very soon to see how that BIOS revision is.

One tool you should use (assuming you have a windows machine) is a1ctl. It allows you control over the fan and to lock the CPU speed to 800mhz.

Thanks very much for that clue, minhuci. I was thinking I had something very bad with my AA1, maybe the motherboard. I am very happy that my little net is living again.
