hey everyone. Just got a brand new Aspire 5100 notebook, and everything runs smoothly, except for the sound. If I'm playing mp3's or streaming any sort of audio off the Internet or anything, I get tons of small pops and clicks throughout. At first I thought it was my speakers, which it is not. Then I thought it might be my mp3's which I had transferred over from a previous computer, but it wasn't that either because when I played a CD through the computer I had the same problems.

I've downloaded the latest Realtek High Definition Audio driver, but that didn't seem to help me out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

PS - I am running Vista Home Premium and it is an Aspire 5100-3372

well it looks like I fixed my own problem, I went into the power options and switched it from 'balanced' to 'high performance', and now it sounds great!

I'm having the same problem. Where did find that option in the power option?

    Thanks

I am having the same issue.
Unfortunately, although I downloaed the newest Realtek Drivers, and changed the power to high perofamnce, the problem seems a little less noticeable, yet it is still there.

    Any other suggestions anyone?

    Wow! I just fixed it!
    :)
I followed the idea of changing the power plan one step further. I created a new plan which I called "Very High Performance". I then increased the minum Processor state (from 50% to 85%) on the new plan. And... the souind is now great!

    Thanks, Andouble, for the idea!
