Hey everyone,
I've been trying to find a way to flash my BIOS in Windows 7 64-bit, running an Acer 5920G. Having searched the forums I discovered the fn-esc key method of flashing the BIOS but was hoping for something that didn't rely on me getting the exact right version of a flashing program that I couldn't verify if it worked or not.
however:
I just stumbled upon this:
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/utilities.html#top
At the bottom of that website is a link saying:
****************************************************
BIOS CD tool
By using this CD it is possible to update the servers BIOS,BMC,... booting directly from this CD-ROM
BIOS CD R19
*****************************************************
I'm downloading it right now and am going to see exactly what happens when I boot from it but I was hoping perhaps someone else had used it before and could verify that it does in fact work.
Cheers.
***Update***
It appears that this is an old tool for updating certain servers? When I booted from it all I got was a weird menu asking me to update a list of certain systems at which point I wasn't going to risk bricking my system and restarted. It could be a starting point for someone to create a disk to update BIOS's etc. for newer units.
As well if anyone has a way to update the BIOS for a 5920G in a 64-bit OS I'd be happy to hear about it. The most relevant thread I found here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=440088

Does not conclusively answer if the person was able to find a version of the utility that worked for his Acer 5920G.
Thanks.
