I have used both versions of the BIOS and this is what I have noticed.
V1.33
No issues resuming from standby (locking up)
RUNNING HOT AFTER RESUMING FROM STANDBY - 72C
V1.34
Intermittent lockups when resuming from standby
Noticeably cooler from standby - 35C
Cooler operating temps when in use.
I know that with the 1.34 bios temps are reported incorrectly (sometimes I get 12c) but it does run cooler and I can tell just by the touch.
It also seems that in 1.34 the fan runs for a while on the lowest speed.
anybody else getting the same results?
BTW Im running XP Pro SP3

that seems quite common with bios 1.34 on 5315's..... but this BIOS is shared by the 5720 and the 7720... and a few others i believe,,,, and i don;t guess ACER has gotten enough complaints
most people are just going back to V 1.33
then use this program
http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/index.html
to monitor and activate the fan.... all you do is run the prog... no setting changes need... they don't even work... but it does activate the fan when temp hits 50 or 55c
