Acer Canada's product catalog was just updated today, and includes a particularly intriguing new category - the Aspire 6530.
This is an AMD Puma platform version of the popular Aspire 69xx series.
The four models due to launch on October 20th in Canada feature a familiar feature set - 16" WXGA screen, 160-320GB hard drive, 2-4GB of RAM, a DVD burner or a Blu-Ray drive, and the Radeon HD 3200. Two models have the honour of the first appearance of the Turion Ultra ZM-80 processor in the Acer lineup.
MSRPs range from $629 for the only non-Dolby model, to $899 for the Bluetooth'd top-of-the-line model. A viable alternative to the more expensive Gemstones, no?
Speaking of the other Gemstones, it turns out that this catalog had another pleasant surprise - the Aspire 6930 arriving in North America! This bodes well for anyone who truly dislikes the CineDash, and would prefer an actual numpad. There's just one bad part - the two announced models are markedly weaker than their 6935 counterparts. Both have only the Core 2 Duo T5800 processor, and only one model has a GeForce 9300M GS. Thus, if you're looking for graphics power, the 6935 or 8930 is still your best bet.

I believe they are already selling the Acer Aspire 6930 at Futureshop and it comes with a Geforce 9600M GS 512MB.
