Man, it's been a while since I've done one of these, hasn't it?
Poked my head into the Acer price list on www.acer.ca, and look what I found!

Three each of the new Aspire 5740 and 7740 notebooks! As you can tell from the names, the former is at a 15.6" screen size, while the latter is 17.3" large.

The 5740G in particular looks tantalizing, especially on price-for-performance.
A Core i5-430M at 2.26 GHz, 4GB of DDR3, 500GB hard drive, and an ATi Radeon HD 5650, for $799 CAD. If I was going to buy a new notebook this year, this might very well be it.

I'm not surprised at all that Acer is #2 in computer shipments world-wide, overtaking Dell. :)

If they keep this up, they are sure to overtake HP as well in the #1 spot! I have been quite impressed with Acer as of late.

Nahh you gonna have to wrestle my Old Aspire 4530 from me.
The new Laptops uses Insyde BIOS.
Dissembling it is quite horrible not to mention my current system is not badly underpowered.
I think when I studied enough I like to create a EFI firmware for my BIOS laptop that is more fun. :)
