This has been troubling me since I installed SP1.
There are a few widgets in the framework which I use frequently. But above all is the eRecovery option.
The problem is that the launcher "Acer Empowering Technology Framework" doesn't even start anymore.
An error keeps popping up saying that it "has stopped working".

Anybody else experienced this problem? :(

if you don't use that Acer bloatware, how do you restore your laptop to factory settings?

edit: thanks! rocketdock working like a charm!

    You have two options

    1. Press alt+F10 when you boot up. You will now be able to go back to factory settings
    2. Burn the recovery dvd's with the eRecovery and after that remove all the acer junk. You can use those dvd's when your hd crashes for example and the recovery partition is gone. You should always make these DVD's as a backup of your recovery partition!

It's basically a small little bar that holds shortcuts.
It can also hold gadgets for weather, currency exchange etc etc
    :)

Thank goodness I've already made those Recovery DVD's.
However, don't they require that eRecovery works?
If that is the case, therein lies the problem.
All that Acer bloatware suite includes eRecovery, and my whole suite hasn't been working since I installed SP1.

Just an update though... I uninstalled the whole suite & SP1.
Then I reinstalled the Acer bloatware suite, and it STILL doesn't work!
So now I'm suspecting this whole problem may not be related to SP1... :(

if the recovery disks require any of the acer E tech to restore, then how could someone reinstall thier OS after a virus or some other problem corrupted the harddrive's files or partition info,,,

all you need to do is put the disks in and boot from them... they should work fine even if recovering to a blank HDD.
i say SHOULD... i have noticed a few users having problems with STOP codes and other errors durring the recovery process.

If the OS works enough to access the HDD and the Erecovery prog. then you should be able to install the Empowering technology FRAMEWORK, and the Erecovery App before doing the recovery process.

hope that sheds a bit of light on the issues,
