    Hi,

First of all I would like to greet all of the members, especially those carrying an Acer laptop. :)

I would like to discuss about some technical problems I encountered with my Acer TravelMate 291LCi. It would be great to know, if somone else had experienced the same kind of problems.

I bought my laptop last year. Although it sometimes causes me headaches, I am very happy with it. It incorporates the characteristics I dreamed of: relatively large screen (15), great battery life, great graphics (Ati MR9700), thin and relatively ligth design.

The problems started with the dvd/cd-rw drive. Sometimes it refused to load cdrw media and didn't write my memorex mini cdrw discs. After taking the laptop to a service center (Traveller warranty :)) they replaced the drive.
However, after a few weeks of utilization it started acting weird. The computer completely freezes when I insert a disc into the drive. If I eject the tray and reload the disc, the laptop starts responding. Sometimes, after ejecting the tray, I cannot close it. No matter how I push it back, it keeps popping out. I am planning to take it back to the service center.

Another problem is even more weird. I couldn't figure it out, if its a design flaw or a problem with my hardware.
The laptop is very, very quite, but sometimes, when the processor and the hard drive are idle I can hear a high frequency sound coming from inside. If am listening to it (try not to in a quite environment), it drives me nutts.

I would be more than happy to hear your opinion and experiences too.
