Without going into massive detail i will keep it short :D
My Laptop crashed big time this morning, to a scale where i have had to format.
With there stilling being loads of work, doc's etc on the hard drive which i needed i went out and bought another harddrive (bigger).
I have install the new harddrive and installed Vista Homed.
I fitted my old harddrive to a External hard drive case and hooked it upto the laptop in the sense i could use it as a external hard drive and recover all my work.
    Now here the problem
Before the new hard drive i had 3 partitions (came like this when i bought the laptop) which where C: D :(which was CD Rom) E: X:
Now i have fitted the new harddrive and hooked up the old harddrive as an external i have the following :-
    C: which is new harddrive
    D: CD Rom Drive
E: the old harddrive which was C:
F: the old harddrive which was E:

An thats it....? Where has my X: gone? there was 30gig of work on there :(

    Help please

have you checked its not hidden?
you will need to set show all files and folders and then you may have to take ownership of the files after you have un-hidden them.

had the same thing happen to me with a third partition i had set-up for important file's. i had set it to hidden and was shocked to see the amount of room on hard drive didn't add up to its size.
    best of luck
    Phil :D
