Hey all, I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere already, but I couldn't find any solutions that worked for me. Following installing windows XP on my notebook, my audio quit on me and no drivers I've yet found will get it working again. I tried from the Acer website as well as a few others I've found here and there... has ANYONE got working sound on a 4420 with XP?

What is the problem you are facing with the audio, exactly.

    there is no audio :p

i.e. when I open up windows media player and try to play a song, for example, I get a little popup that says I have no sound devices installed. In my device manager, I have an 'unknown PCI device' that refuses to update or reinstall any drivers. That must be my sound card, right? In my control panel, under 'sounds and audio devices' all my dropdown boxes are grayed out (since I presumably have no audio devices to select from).

BUT! When I install the drivers for my bluetooth, I can select "Bluetooth audio" as my audio device... but then when I try to play music I get no popup, the file seems to play but still no sound, despite max volume, double checking mute boxes etc. I uninstalled the bluetooth drivers for the moment because they seemed to be messing with my audio.

hmmm one called 'Realtek HD Audio,' 'Realtek Audio v5.10.0.5423,' one is just called 'WDM 200' Those are all I have on my hard drive currently (none installed atm), but I've tried a few others as well.

No ideas? I ran Astra32, and its scan told me my audio device is "IXP SB600 Realtek High Definition Audio," if that helps

Well , I have to format my Pc again because I was instaled a Windows Xp sp3 and Realteak Audio does not work on SP3. The PC does not reconigze the audio device because the KB888111 does not work with Sp3. Just reload a Windows XP sp2 and ....Bingo...... it is work!

    Just my 2 cents.
