The crappy thing about the 4620Z is that acer included a bluetooth button on the chassis of the computer, but didn't include the hardware.

Your laptop doesn't have bluetooth. Pretty shady looking.

Well... actually there may be some variations of the model with Bluetooth.

It's the same with Acer 5920G. Some 5920Gs don't have bluetooth

It saves them money obviously. You should have researched a little before your purchase.

Well, actually "a little" research doesn't get it done. The computer has a button labelled "Bluetooth". The salesman at Best Buy specifically points out "Bluetooth" as a major feature that's unusual in a laptop of this price class. The PDF manual on Acer's web site refers to the "Bluetooth" button (albeit with a cryptic asterisk about it being a "manufacturing option").

The only way to know that you're being lied to is to happen across another person on a forum somewhere who has been lied to previously and found out the truth. That's more like extensive research in my book.

This bluetooth issue pops up alot with acer users on this forum and it can be very frustrating/confusing for users who aren't accustomed to how acer operates.

Acer likes to use a universal chassis for a number of its notebook series. A number of the aspire and travelmate(extensa) series use the same basic chassis, so they make the chassis with all of the buttons on it (for models that have all of the options installed). This then means that just because a notebook has the bluetooth symbol on it unfortunately doesn't automatically mean it has bluetooth. If it doesn't specifically say that notebook series with "X" model number has bluetooth then it doesn't have it. I have always wondered why acer don't just block off the switch if the model doesn't have the bluetooth module installed; but I realized that there is nothing stopping a user from buying and installing the module themselves, and then therefore using the button. (When you take that into account this then kinda makes sense  .) On the other hand this is then why they block out S-video ports when no S-video is installed as there is no way to install that without getting a new mainboard.
So if you see "no device" when you hit the bluetooth switch then your model doesn't have bluetooth unfortunately.

Acer does this practice of "universal chassis" perhaps to make it cheaper/easier for them to make different notebook models.

I'm fortunate in that I don't own any Bluetooth devices and wasn't counting on using it. However, I did briefly consider a Bluetooth mouse right after I got the computer. Glad I heard otherwise on this forum before plunking down fifty bucks for a mouse I don't need.

Sometimes my system has flashed the "No Device" message when I press the button and sometimes not (right this moment it does not for some reason). I did not see that message when I pressed the button on the display model in Best Buy although I thought it odd that the light did not come on. I figured it was turned off in the BIOS or some such.
