I had to replace the hard drive due to old one totally died. Bought a new drive from Newegg and have tried using the recovery cd's to reinstall Vista. Unfortunately, it says no partition found. So I do some research online and see that I might need to download the post acer disk formatter before the recovery cd will work correctly. I ran the formatter and started the recovery cd again and it still says no partition found.

What do I need to do to get this to work correctly? I created a 75 gb primary partition and tried again and it gave me an error of 0xa000000e, guess it didn't like the partition I made.

    Can anybody help me?

Is the new drive that you installed the exact same size as the one you replaced?

I just installed a new drive on acer 5551, there is a file from acer web site you have to download and run to prepair the hard drive to accept the recovery disk.
