I have just bought a Acer Extensa 5610 (similar to 5620, 4210, 4220). I have noticed that the screen has a dark spot where the the clock in windows is displayed measuring 1 cm high and 1cm length from the corner of the screen.

What is the cause of this? Will it get worse over time??

The other thing I have noticed is screen flex. I'm not sure that I am using the right term here. When I twist the top corners of the screen in opposite directions, I can tell that there is a gap between the black plastic and the LCD panel down the sides of the screen. I can even put a finger nail between the plastic around the screen and the LCD panel! I also hear it clicking at the top right hand corner. Sounds like it is a bit loose in the corner too.

Will it damage the screen?? Anything I can do to make it more secure??? Should I tighten the screws of the screen by taking those black rubber things off???

Done a dead pixel test and not one dead pixel though! Also has a Seagate hard drive and a LG DVDRW/RAM both of which are reliable drives from my previous experiences.

Also the catches (to hold the screen when it is closed) look a bit weak plastic and I doubt they will last long if care is not taken.

The chassis seems relatively free of flex, but the plastic at the front next to the green power LED is also a bit loose and moves up and down if I press/pull it.

Has a bluetooth button but there is no bluetooth

I had a old NEC generation celeron which was built for the eductional market and it was rock solid, in all respects.

The config is: C2D 1.6GHz, 1GB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HDD, 15.4" BrightView, DVDRW/RAM, Wireless, Intel Integrated Graphics. Got it for 350 UK Pounds which is $700

Don't know whether to keep it with all these "flaws" or return it????

Also does anyone know if there any programs that will really stress the laptop to see if it cuts the mustard, I was thinking run SiSoft Sandra for a few hours to see what happens.
